Southside,
while the school is up to date technologically speaking.
The amount of disrespect from the administration to any club or activity that isn't a sport is saddening. The fact that our football team gets more love, the arts programs that outperform the athletics time and time against, is disappointing. Many of the teachers are not local. Which racially, and economically, leads to an uncomfortable environment for minoity students like myself.

During my time at South High School I enjoyed myself but felt that the staff can distance itself away from students. There are a few teachers who are an exception and bring up the name of south. I want to see the students and teachers mix more because they haven't developed the bond needed for teaching. They do bring themselves up when they participate in spirit week and have a better attitude towards spirit week and what it represents. The principals have sat on a throne but they do make an attempt to come down and its a refreshing mix into the mix of south high.
I had the ability and help necessary to take a great deal of upper level classes, which, as is expected, will set me up for the future. I have had multiple great teachers and only one or two bad ones over the years. The only bad thing is that the budgeting for the extracurriculars is relatively bad compared to that of the sports teams.
