For the past four years I have been a South Harrison Hawk. I live in such a small community, so everybody knows everybody. Sometimes it was good and sometimes it was bad. Although, an advantage to being such a small school is that teachers at South Harrison go out of their way to help you. These teachers only want to help you succeed. They want to watch you grow. That is exactly what they did with me, they helped me grow into the person I am today. I wouldn’t have wanted to graduate May 25th, 2018, at any other school.

What I liked about South Harrison High School was most of the teachers. Certain teachers took the time to get to know you and would help you with anything you were struggling with. A couple of my favorite teachers left for my senior year and I'm very sad about that, but it wasn't their fault.
Knowing everyone you go to school with is either good or bad. I, personally, enjoy knowing everyone in my school. I like to become friends with them and know who they are and what their names are. Having a connection with other students and teachers is very important to me. I would rather know that the teacher knows my name and knows my likes and dislikes than to have a teacher just know me as a number.
I come from a small town and I enjoy that. Yes, it sometimes can get annoying because everyone knows everyone so you can't get away with anyone. But on the other hand, it's very nice to know who you can trust.
Very few teachers display the qualities that I personally associate with the job title. Many teachers do not respect students ideas or opinions, teach monotonous lessons, and are consistently late with grading. It's very hard to get in touch with my teachers unless I'm in school and I often face repercussions for this. On the contrary, there are a handful of teachers that genuinely care for students. They do whatever they can to help students, whether it's extra help with an assignment or getting help with a personal situation. I have been in several classes where a debatable or questionable answer is given, most teachers brush it off and tell us to just go with the book, but only two teachers have ever taken students answers into consideration and challenged the book by going through the problem step by step, sometimes in multiple ways. I feel like this is a reflection on the desire to teach.
