My experience at South Gate was fond. I think the school deserves more funding but beside that the people there were decent and the classes are good. I always felt like I was learning something new. I think in terms of community at that school, it needs improvement.
alright school its ok although some of the faculty rather have us attend in time than doing good in classes until the last moment
It has been a pretty good school to be a part of these past years. I felt like this is somewhere where I belong and receive good help from college counselor for college.
The teachers at South Gate High School are one of the most caring teachers I have ever had, I still get personalized emails and letters from my teacher a year after graduating. The teachers make it really easy to develop personal and appropriate relationships with them. They have a really good college counselor with several peer counselors willing to help at all times with all college and school documents. It is a low-income high school, so there are not many resources available, but the teachers strive to get us good books and study guides for AP classes through online fundraising platforms like gofundme.com. There are a variety of sports and great teams. We have over dozens of clubs and can even make your own if there aren't any to your liking. Overall, South Gate High School is an excellent school with great teachers, caring faculty, intelligent and creative students, strong clubs, and prosperous, competitive sport teams.
While the pandemic struck when I was 7 months into freshman year, those were arguably the most enjoyable 7 months of school I've had. I've always been ecstatic about going to high school, and South Gate High gave me the short experience I had dreamed about. I was met with a wide array of sports, from golf to the great American football. The clubs were nothing short of diverse, varying from the clubs with a cause, such as the Vegan Alliance, to academic clubs such as Academic Decathlon. The faculty made it adamant about the schools sense of community, stressing the importance of having good bonds among students and faculty. However, I will admit there is a lack of artistic clubs. This is mainly due to the school's focus on the STEM curriculum. While this may seem troublesome to students who thrive in the arts, there are still band and art, so it's not a total loss. Overall, South Gate Highschool is a welcoming, familial, and diverse school.
My school experience here at South Gate High school, is amazing experience! You receive the best help when it comes to both scholarships and college preparedness. I can say that sometimes they may lack help in clubs and in contacting both teachers and councilors. It is a very intriguing experience otherwise!
My experience at South Gate High School was pretty good. I wish they would have talked to us about college plans and opportunities earlier on though.
I have had a splendid experience at this school and if you are looking for a fun, hardworking, caring school to go to, then I recommend this school.
The school is very good and have many loving and caring people, but it isn't in the nicest community but that's what makes us all rams survivors.
The school spirit is excellent and students/staff will ensure you feel included. Numerous clubs and sports will make sure you find something that interests you. Teachers will try their best to give you the best learning experience you can have.
South Gate is a school that fully engages every student in order to succeed as a whole. Everyone is given a voice and a chance to be a part of many fun activities. The spirit is amazing and the school overall is great. They follow you in your every step to make sure you are on track, and as an LAUSD school, I love the graduation requirements. My favorite is fundraising because it helps not only yourself but others in need.
South Gate Senior Highschool has teachers who really care about their students. It has really impacted and surprised me with how much they care. A change I would like to see is more counselors per student.
I love the school because it’s less drama you can literally make friends to fast with always being positive. So many sports to do and clubs to join if interested they have it all over control. I get along with the deans and love the work they do. Soo much school spirit to participate in its always loud and exciting. The vice principals, counselors, & etc are so helpful.
I enrolled into this school my sophomore year and I didn't have much trouble making friend with other students and many teachers were very welcoming. Academic wide they were pretty good the school offered the basic AP classes that most high schools offer so that was good. They also offered ELAC classes which was also really great because students didn't have to travel all the way to ELAC. I do wish the college center thoroughly explained step by step of college applications as well as financial aid applications because many students are 1st generation and don't know how to start these processes and lose many opportunities. I do have to warn that the food was really not that great. Multiple times a friend of mine got moldy food/vegetables but she wa unable to get more food due to cafeteria only giving each student 1 lunch per day. Sports wise they have a good range of sports sadly I decided to join sports my senior year but it was a really great exprience.Overall my experience was good
My experience at South Gate was about average, they could have improved if they would have funded the teachers and academics classes and clubs more instead of the athletes department.
It wasn't the best school.. there was alot of bad influences...the staff was very lazy in protecting and enforcing rules. however, teachers are amazing as well as the college counsler.
Definitely a lot of opportunities available but school is severely overcrowded. Teachers in the AP system are great but the regular teachers dont really care.
