I loved the flexibility of South Carolina Connections Academy. I attended the charter school from most of 6th grade to graduation and I loved it! Attending this school gave me the opportunity to graduate from high school a year early and I was able to get accepted into a great university. This school allows students to learn at their own pace, work ahead, and pursue interests, all while learning from home! It gives homeschooling a whole new meaning!

I attended South Carolina Connections Academy for my entire high school career, so 4 years. My experience with Connections Academy was amazing considering the misconceptions of online school. I was able to gain responsibility by making my own schedule and attending live-lessons for individual classes. Although I did not have a traditional school environment, the virtual one provided was very effective; it still allowed me a successful relationship with my teachers, and even other classmates. Not only does Connections Academy require live-lessons, but they offer individual live sessions with teachers. There were also physical events outside of classes like clubs, trips, and prom. I would not change anything about South Carolina Connections Academy, they are already a highly established, functioning and effective institution.
Honestly as far as home-schools go Connections provides the best possible experience. As a kid I started in a very independent home-school program and my experience just doesn't compare to connections. In connections you are expected to take on some responsibility but there are actual teachers and guidance counselors there to help. If a child is falling behind or failing the teacher will meet with them and provide them with any help they need. More than that the school allows you to work at your own pace. If you are busy all morning you can work at night and vise versa. By the time my graduation came along my counselors were able to help me with everything. I was able to graduate with scholarship to my first choice college. If you are considering home school programs start here, chances are you'll never have anything else to worry about.
