I truly have enjoyed my time at South Anchorage High School! They have always allowed for the best education opportunities in the district. Outside of some case by case issues, they are a great school with amazing opportunities.

When considering my own personal experience at South Anchorage High School, only good things come to mind. My 3 star rating of the school does not, however, reflect that. I was involved in a lot of different athletics programs, was fairly outgoing, and grew up with many of the kids that I was going to school with. This provided an array of different communities in which I could find safety and belonging. People outside of these tight-knit communities had a very different experience. I was very much aware of this issue, but in those vulnerable teenage years, didn't have the courage to step out of my comfort zone and be an advocate of change. I imagine this is a problem to varying degrees in almost any high school, but it seemed especially prevalent at South High School. I would love to see some kind of a systemized effort to involve all kids attending South in communities that will give them a sense of belonging, love, and encouragement in those inevitably difficult formative years.
The students are supported through the community in academics as well as sports. I feel the students benefit from this and in turn become a better community within the school walls. There’s unity and pride in our wolverine school teams. We’re also very lucky to have an updated space to learn in everyday. I’m proud to say that I am a student at south anchorage highschool!
