The administration at SAHS introduced Power Hour this year. This seems to have helped with students receiving additional help from teachers, access to computers, and time for homework. However, more emphasis needs to be placed on the development of writing skills. Teachers need to utilize the computer systems for posting classwork, notes, schedules, grades, etc. The school website needs to include information for each of the clubs (i.e., purpose, meeting times/dates, agendas, etc.)

The facility itself is dated and is in need of renovations/enlargement. Science lab equipment is inadequate. More computer equipment needs to be available for students. Lockers are so small that students can't fit books and coats in the locker at the same time. The athletic facilities are subpar (weight room, baseball locker rooms and bathrooms, etc.)
Review South Aiken High School
With recent changes in administration, South Aiken has seen several changes in their way of life. There are some very excellent teachers that care about their students and their success, especially in the honors/AP areas, but some teachers don’t care if students use phones in class, and I had a teacher for an AP class who would barely come to school. Recently, South Aiken has become an "AP Academy." They are pushing AP further and further down to freshmen. I have a sister who just finished her sophomore year and took 3 AP classes, and little to no freshmen passed their AP exams, same goes for the sophomores. My sister will be out of things to take by her senior year because they recommended she take so many advanced classes at a young age. I was in a very similar position, only taking two classes at South Aiken my senior year and taking classes at a college. Not all of the students can handle the academic intensity they face, and it is stressing them out to no end.
South Aiken does not prepare a student for life at all. We walk through the halls everyday on disgusting floors and damaged property. The teachers only care about test scores and do not care about if you actually know the material. South Aiken is by far the grossest school I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to attend. No soap in the bathrooms, hand sanitizer that smells like fish, water fountains with mold on them, the list could go on and on. It is unfortunate that kids dread going to school everyday, I wish someone would look into WHY they hate coming to school.
