My experience at Souderton High School was very positive overall with some ups and downs. My first year was difficult, trying to adjust to a new environment once again and making new friends. We have a homeroom 5th block where we would connect with announcements for the week. The main reason why we were all there was just to act as a buffer in between classes to work on homework, connect with people, and go over important information that we would need to know throughout the four years we were there for. My second year was probably my favorite year at Souderton. The reason being I had great teachers, and made a lot of cool friends that I got to grow closer to throughout the years. My favorite class that year was probably English because of the interesting material we were going over. We read the Wife of Bath's Tale, Beowulf, and Macbeth. Macbeth was by far my favorite piece of writing by Shakespeare that we learned that year. In short, high school was a good growth period.
If your child’s name is at the end of the alphabet, they will struggle with their guidance counselor. This counselor never gets back to sophomores and now is in charge of kids in the whole school in the end of the alphabet. I pray for these kids who need college readiness because they will suffer due to one staff member.
Other than that I do wish the kids had more time to eat lunch and the block scheduling is horrible. No kid can sit through over an hour of a class without feeling restless. The kids need either more breaks or some downtime. The staff need to work more with incoming families. New families to the school (including freshman) seem to be lost as I’ve found with all the schools in the district. Give kids and parents more time to know what’s going on. They run through orientation quickly assuming all parents know everything. They do not.

Souderton Area High School is one of the best schools in the area. The building itself is lovely. The hallways are spacious and the building is gorgeous. From the pool to the auditorium, anyone who visits our school falls in love. Our school also fosters a great environment for pursuing what you love. from sports to music, you can find your niche in doing what you love. Our school offers numerous classes that other schools cannot offer and a staff that is eager to help students learn the majority of the time. The staff helps provide spectacular educational opportunities for their students in and outside of the classrooms. The security team is eager to help students and keep them safe. Our curriculum has made me extremely prepared for college and has equipped me with the tools necessary to pursue secondary education. Souderton is a wonderful community to be a part of and a great educational environment despite any flaws.
