Soquel High School is a well run school located in a semi-rural part of Santa Cruz County. It has a larger student population than you may have experienced but it is a small school when compared to the schools in the Central Valley of California where I was raised.
The school still embraces the Trades and has active workshops when many have been discontinued throughout California, if not our nation. Yet, Soquel has a very strong Music program and one of the strongest marching bands I've ever heard perform! Their traditional sports along with their fundraising efforts are very good too.
Lastly, the general academic courses are taught well, especially strong along the AP track.

The students at Soquel High are generally kind and hardworking and the sports programs are excellent. The buildings are a little old and although there are many amazing teachers, there are also some poor teachers, especially in the science department.
I liked many of my teachers and many of the AP classes offered me a challenge and great learning environment that the normal classes did not necessarily facilitate. Your experience at Soquel all depends on attitude. The spirit days are only fun if you dress up, the clubs are fun if you join, and the classes and teachers are better when you interact with them. My favorite part about Soquel is there is a home for everyone. Whether it is band or football, art or choir, model UN or bio club, there is a home for you. I would like to see the involvement from students in events to increase and I wish our math department would improve to the level of our history department.
