Sonoma Academy is a warm and welcoming community of students, teachers, and staffulty (faculty & staff). Campus safety can be measured by the hundreds of backpacks laying on the ground outside with no incidents of robbery or otherwise. The teachers are super understanding and always find unique ways to engage their classes. The curriculum teaches students to be deep thinkers and to ask questions, not just memorize dates in a textbook. Overall, SA students are met with a chill/relaxed environment in the context of an academically rigorous school. SA offers any and every opportunity: from its professional recording studio open to students, to its state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, to its awe-inspiring theater and music productions, to it’s fantastic speech and debate teams and it’s many sports.
Sonoma Academy's small class size and extraordinary faculty and staff are only a couple of reasons the school has been a perfect fit for me.
Sonoma Academy is such a great school that prepares you for the future. They actually care for you and they prioritize your needs instead avoiding them. This school allows you express yourself without being judged and makes students feel welcome. Not only do they pass on their knowledge to you, but they also teach you on how to become a better person. They have a big emphasis on community and they prepare us on how to become leaders in our community. This school feels like a family, and they make sure that you are involved in it. I have been to two other schools and they don't they have the impact Sonoma Academy does. The school allows you to try new things that our out of your comfort zone. Whether it is playing a new sport or doing theatre, they always make sure that you are getting better, but that you are also having fun and not being afraid of getting out of your comfort zone. Sonoma Academy is great because it allows their students to try new things, without being scared.
Sonoma Academy gives students the high school experience people dream about. The teachers will do anything for their students and only want the best for each in every one.
I couldn't have asked for a better high school experience. Sonoma Academy really lets students forge their own path. I was a founding member of the school's robotics team, and the first student to do model congress on the debate team. Sonoma Academy really is one of the best decisions you can make going into high school.
This school feels like home. Its warm and inviting. Students, teachers and parents are friendly, engaging and most importantly, happy. Our son is in his second year and loves everything about SA. SA gives the students a safe environment both physically and emotionally. SA builds confident leaders for tomorrow and adequately prepares their students for life after high school.
Amazing experience. Classmates from middle school split into 3 different schools. All the went to SA are graduating with stellar grades, no drug/alcohol issues, and have evolved to be interesting, thoughtful, well spoken young adults.
I go here and like it a lot, it's a very hands-on school. If you need help with anything you can always go to a teacher. The main problem is just that it's really really white. It's very much a bubble, but at least we're aware of it I guess. It's just hard to have a well-rounded discussion on race issues with everyone being of one race.
This school is great for developing character and independence, however if you are an academically motivated student the options are limited. The number of acclerated courses is relatatively small, and the only way to excel academically is to take advanced stem courses, because there are no advanced humanities courses, except for electives offered only in senior year. As a high school, Sonoma academy’s admin falls short in helping the academically excelling student experience high school the way they wish too. It is great for those who wish to have a more relaxed experience, but is not for anyone else.
Incredible school with amazing opportunities, however, it seems to be going downhill. It is being run like a business, not a school.
Sonoma Academy was an amazing experience. Everything you choose to be a part of, clubs, sports, classes, and the entire community overall, will reward you greatly. I have learned so much and its preparation for future education is exceptional. I have made so many memories I can never forget, and I thank them very much.
Sonoma Academy is a very community orientated place that welcomes all newcomers and familiar faces alike. In my four years at this wonderful place, I have found a sense of family within the students, teachers, and workers.
We have been very happy with our experiences with the School for our two children. The facilities are top notch and the faculty is amazing. The students are very, very happy and engaged there.
I loved the diversity of Sonoma Academy being a minority student , I always felt very comfortable with my fellow peers and teachers
Although this school is expensive, the education is well worth the money. I have gone to school here for four years, I am now a graduating senior. I am sad to say I will never experience a community of this quality. The teachers and students respect each other in a way that isn't something you would experience at a larger school. The students are so accepting and open; I have formed strong bonds and made lifelong friendships. What's more, I have been accepted to every school I have applied to, thanks to my awesome college counselors and the quality education the teachers provided. There is never a lack of support and genuine care from everyone that is at Sonoma Academy. I am truly sad to leave, but also prepared.
I have really enjoyed my years at Sonoma Academy. The small class sizes and dedicated teachers have allowed for me to pursue many subjects in order to find my passion. I have enjoyed all my classes, even if it is in a subject I don't particularly like, because the teachers create a great and fun atmosphere in their classrooms.
I am really happy I chose SA. No regrets!
The teachers at Sonoma Academy are incredible. Each teacher has excellent qualifications to teach. Teachers use diverse mediums such as literature, video, audio, images, and lectures to show students material from different perspectives. Teachers are reliable and work hard to ensure success for their students.
I always feel very safe and secure on campus. I have never experienced any theft at all on campus. Even though there is a small drugs/alcohol scene in the school community, it doesn't interfere with campus life. Students are not pressured to use drugs or to drink alcohol. There is absolutely no violence, and almost no bullying.
