When I transferred to Somerset Academy Charter High School, I was a shy ninth grader who had just left her childhood friends behind, including my family's home for nine years. With no choice, but to move on and take in our new and loving home to this day, I stepped into my new high school, an unforgettable phase in every teenager's life. To my surprise, the students had nothing but respect and treated me with kindness. Additionally, I could feel the warmth that these students transmitted for one another and how they allowed a complete stranger to enter their family. Fast forward to now, I have graduated high school and the everlasting care and guidance that I received from my teachers is something I will forever hold onto. Furthermore, through all the ups and downs that occurred because unfortunately it wasn't all rainbows and butterflies, I have exited a phase of my life with bonds I will forever be grateful and for all new phases I enter, I know I will always be a Stallion.

SACH is a good school with plenty of safety, resources, and activities for students. Teachers are overall wonderful and genuinely care about their students. But it is flawed. Administration is very rude to teachers and students despite the kind facade they put on, especially when a concern is brought to their attention. Students are very loud and vulgar, shouting profanities in class and screaming in the halls for no reason at all. Lunches are not very healthy, the only “healthy” option being salad.
What I liked about Somerset was its dedicated staff and its small class sizes which allowed for a more personalized approach to education with each student. In other words, the small class sizes provided teachers with the perfect opportunity to focus on each individual student’s needs and receive feedback on their method of teaching. What I didn’t like about Somerset was its limited educational/extracurricular programs which put hundreds of students at a disadvantage compared to regular public schools that offer their students a multitude of said programs from which to choose from. I personally believe they should consider implementing more programs in the near future if possible.
