The teachers are what makes this school the amazing place it is. I’ve never encountered a teacher that did not want me to thrive past expectations! Head administration sucks though.

I am currently a senior at Soldan ISHS. So far my experience here has been between average and good. I feel that my teacher prepare us well for college and standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. Most of our teachers genuinely care about our education. The only flaws about my school I feel that should really be addressed is the quality of food and the cleanliness of the building. Most of our food is bland, tasteless, and feels as though it is undercooked. On many occasions me and my other pupils have seen roaches and even rats a few times. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give Soldan a 7.8
Coming to Soldan, I did not know what to expect. It was a different environment than what I was used to, so anything could happen. In some ways, my experience is what I expected, and in other ways it was a complete contradiction to my expectations. My judgement was accurate as far as student behavior, sense of community, and academic achievement; they were all either bordering average or below average. There were things I was wrong about, too. For example, while achievement was low, the actual quality of classes was quite good. A nice portion of teachers are truly invested in their classes and make real attempts at creating successful students. Also, I felt like I was really learning and remembering things most of the time, rather than “learning” while not retaining any information.
