Socastee is a mixed bag when it comes to teachers. Some are great, & others don't care. Regardless, the workload is intense. I do homework for 4-6 hours a day, including weekends, & barely manage to keep good grades. Any time for relaxation (necessary for burnout), is nonexistent. Much about the school could be improved. The bug problem is overwhelming, & is getting worse. The extracurriculars exclude & mock certain portions of the student population, particularly the non-white and LGBT. The provided laptops break constantly, & the food is monotonous. The same meal was offered for a month! On the bright side, the library does contain books about serious issues like mental health, global warming, & politics. It's lucky enough to contain a 3D printer, which is free to the students. While the library has a decent selection, it's saturated by teen novels, & doesn't have much good literature. Overall, my academic needs are satisfied for college, but anything else was subpar.

When I started my first year in Socastee High I was trying to find my place in the world, trying to find a good footing on what I wanted to do after I graduated. To help with my decision, I did multiple activities around school and that's where that school really shines.when it comes to activities, there are a plethora of them! I mainly stayed in the arts Because that's where I really felt I could do something with myself. Now I've graduated and I have an Audition for the University of South Carolina's School of music in December! I loved every moment in that school especially with the Socastee Singers. There's community in that school and unity. When two of our own died last year the entire School was United in mourning. That's what I love about this school. We care about our own, forever and always. Because like the saying goes: "Once a brave, always a brave"
I absolutely adored my time at Socastee High School, as I was very involved in many clubs, sports, and organizations. The trick to enjoying your experience at Socastee is to be as involved as possible! This way, meeting new people and making great relationships becomes easy and fun. Not only is the social life at Socastee great, the academics there are fantastic. They have an International Baccalaureate program created to be rigorous in hopes of preparing students for college, as well as teachers who are willing to assist students get a great education.
