i had a great experience at Smoky Mountain High school. I really liked the teachers and staff. I had fun in my early childhood class and agriculture class.
I was in marching band for all four years that I attended. Those were the best years I have ever spent. The teachers and staff at Smoky Mountain High School were incredible and really had the best interest of the kids at heart. If you were upset a teacher was more than likely to notice. The best part of that school is the principal. Evelyn Granning, she is the most caring and understanding principal that I have ever encountered. She is a mother and she really brings that to the table when she is doing her job.
Smoky Mountain High school is/has been a good experience overall from my freshman year and now going into my senior year.
During my early adolescent school years attending the Jackson County school system I had a very pleasant experience, so it was only natural that I continued my highschool years there. The teachers were very attentive in the growth of my education, of which I was very fortunate. I remember very fondly the first time I was greated by the massive lobby of Smoky Mountian High, granted I was a bit scared coming from a much smaller school I found my place within those infamous halls. As I mentioned before the teachers were always understanding and ready to accomadate any need I had regarding the school work they assigned. Every step of my journey through that school was guided by amazing people who I had the pleasure of calling my educators moreover I hope they are still molding young minds like they did mine. Also for the young adults that follow the same path just know your going to be attending one of the finest schools Western North Carolina has to offer!
Average school overall. It is small school with some good teachers. The level of education is average. The teachers are helpful and understanding.
Smoky Mountain High School is full of friendly faces and a loving faculty. I have enjoyed my four years of education at this school and will take a lot of the memories I have made with me for the rest of my life. The classes offered at this school are wonderful and provide many learning experiences no matter the field of study. I have personally taken a liking to the classes offered pertaining to the arts such as musical theater and play production. Although, I also enjoy other electives such as foods, apparel, and weights classes. I believe Smoky Mountain is a pleasant place to attend overall.
Very nice teachers, great community and a very safe feeling school. I moved to Smoky for high school and honestly, was probably the best decision i could have made regarding high school. I really love the school, its not too big and its not to small, its just right.
The teachers are fantastic and really care about their students. The only downside to going to Smoky Mountain is that it is in a small town and people tend to be close minded.
I have gone here for four years and my sister has graduated from this school. Personally, if you are looking for some diverse culture I would not go here. Teachers have mostly easy classes with some harder academic classes. You are able to receive dual enrollment from Southwestern Community College for free, but you must buy the books.
It overall a really good school but they don't prepare you for college. Safety is good. The sporting event are fun to go too because they are good about making sure we have school spirit.
The teachers are all amazing and very qualified. Since we live in such a small town it’s hard to do anything in secret without everyone knowing. Rumors spread faster and news hits hard. It’s not terrible but not quite the best.
I absolutely love Smoky Mountain. I wouldn’t want to go to any other high school. All the teachers are so hands on. They want nothing more than for you to do well in their class. They care about your future and readiness for college. Everyone is super nice and friendly. Everyone supports everyone, from sports to academic clubs, we’re all one big family trying to help everyone be successful.
Smoky Mountain High School has taught me many life lessons and has given me a true high school experience. The teachers are wonderful and are so caring for each student. The students are all very different but we come together as one.
They have the best teachers and curriculum. The academics and athletics are outstanding. They have the high test scores in the surrounding countries. I love this school. 2009 graduate. This is in my opinion the number one school.
I had a great time at Smoky Mountain High School even though I'm antisocial and have a harder time making friends. There are lots of different kinds of people that a person can connect with. I do wish that the school offered more AP courses however.
SMHS is a 2A school that cares about each individual attending. The teachers take time to make sure you have a complete understanding of the subjects. Administration knows everyone of us by name. Coaches have team bonding in every sport so there is less drama. I have been lucky to have been able to attend all 4 years here.
This school is average. The administration only focuses on how they can improve their school to receive more grants while also favoring teachers opinions more than the students. While the academic rigor is favorable, it is not vigorous enough to prepare for college, other than the senior classes, which stresses the students even more because of the shock of change.
