From Smithtown Christian School

Founded in 1978 as a ministry of Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle, Smithtown Christian School began as a K through 5 school with just fifty-nine students enrolled. Today, SCS offers a K through 12th grade program. The school’s population is comprised of nearly 500 students traveling from over 40 districts across Nassau and Suffolk counties with extended care services also offered.

SCS is a discipleship school. The school’s mission is to teach with excellence in the classroom and through life-on-life influence to produce exceptional young Christian leaders with a heart for God, a mind for Truth, and a passion to change the World. The faculty seek to develop the whole person via classic, time-tested academic disciplines, combined with a deep understanding of the way today’s students learn. Students are taught to cultivate an environment where they treat one another as special, doing more than what is expected with a good attitude.

We enrolled our son in kindergarten at Smithtown Christian School last fall after feeling strongly moved to invest not only in his social, emotional, and academic well-being, but specifically in his spiritual growth, by continuing to cultivate his journey of faith and a love for God and others. We cannot overstate how important this decision was for him and our family. We have been so blessed to see the joy, kindness, confidence, and curiosity that has been grown during his first year. All of the staff, from his teachers to main office administration, security guards, lunch aides, and librarians are welcoming, patient, intentional, and active in showing the love of Christ to our son. We have been amazed at how much he has grown academically from learning to read, memorizing scripture, and his love for STEM and art in particular. The staff, his fellow classmates, and their families have been an immense blessing to us and we look forward to the school year to come this fall!

As a proud parent and an active member of the SCS family for my kindergartener, I wholeheartedly recommend SCS to other families seeking an exceptional educational experience. The teachers and staff at SCS have been instrumental in nurturing my child's growth, both academically and personally. Their dedication and support have created a welcoming environment where my child thrives. The strong sense of community and inclusive culture at SCS foster a love for learning and encourage students to explore their passions. We are excited to be part of the SCS journey and look forward to the bright future ahead!

I am a parent of a first grade student. This is my first year in the school and I can say that my experience interacting with the staff and teachers has been wonderful! Starting from kindergarten teacher, first grade teachers to accounting manager all have been amazingly welcoming and nice. We feel blessed to be part of SCS community where they look to work on every student’s personal, social and emotional growth. My daughter enjoyed going to school every day but most of all she loved going to Chapel on Wednesdays!
