Smithfield High School was filled with awesome programs, classes and best of all, the teachers. Every single one of them cares so much about the students, and truly makes and effort to connect with them. The atmosphere was almost always positive, and the kids there really do support each other. The athletes will happily go and support a music concert or theatre production, and vice versa. You can be in any club or group and be respected and supported by the people around you. The engineering program, mock trial experience/ business program, music program and art classes are all amazing and filled with the most engaging and passionate teachers. I always listen to stories of high schools from my friends in different towns, and I can honestly say the safety, acceptance, and quality of education that they have experienced in their high schools pales in comparison to mine at Smithfield. Go sentinels!

The best thing about Smithfield High School is the teachers. Most of the teachers are nice, caring, and interact well with the students. There are some teachers students either like or don't, but that's typical. The worst things is the clicks among the students. The guidance department is not very helpful to what I needed and the counselor I did need was never there. I've waited countless times for my counselor and was not treated with respect by the guidance department secretary. One of the secretaries at the front desk is very understanding and friendly, while the other is not.
I was a transfer student to Smithfield High School in my Junior year. Due to socioeconomic reasons, I needed to transition schools and move to Rhode Island. This was a very turbulent time in my life and the efforts the high school staff and students went through to assist me through the transition were nothing short of outstanding.
From the school tour, outstanding guidance counselors, exemplary teachers and student mentors I was able to make the transition successfully. My educational experience has allowed me to take college courses in high school, study abroad to learn about different cultures, and renew my belief in my ability to attend college and succeed.
