I think that Newman Smith is absolutely AWESOME! All of my peers and teachers are very kind and thoughtful. For those who think otherwise, Newman Smith has about 2,000 students, so you can definitely find a crowd that is kind and accepts you for your true self!

Another thing I like about Newman Smith is the fact that students have many resources available to them! One thing that students must keep in mind is the fact that they must go out of their own way to take advantage of said resources. At Newman Smith, students can take AP classes, Dual Credit classes, CTE courses, and even IBA classes that are related to business.

While I may love Newman Smith, there are some things that I think could be improved. First, students don't have very much school spirit. Only the seniors have school spirit because they're trying to make the best of their last year in high school. Next, Newman Smith could do more when it comes to providing students with resources for life after high school.

Newman Smith was a very interesting journey for me. We have had three different principals within four years, we have seen a good administration guiding the school and a terrible administration. All bad things to one side, my experience was pretty amazing. I was involved in multiple sports and was even named captain of the Cross Country team. Ever since I was a junior, the class of 2020 has shown their true school spirit. We had the most school spirit and culture than ever other year before us, we participated in almost every school event, even if others considered it a waste of time. Everything was going to be just fine until corona virus struck. We were going to have the most expensive prom Smith has ever seen. Even though many of my friends didn't get to play their sports, including my track season, our school experience was amazing.
I came to smith from my old school in Arlington expecting a better environment than my previous school. To make a long story short, Smith did not live up to my expectations. They do not prepare you for college in any way at all. They let you retake every test you take and they go so easy on you. College doesn’t let you retake your tests. The school is also very uncompetitive. I was ranked 976h at my old school with a 4.3 weighted gpa and here in ranked 9th. That just shows the quality of this school in my opinion
