This school is a very unique experience. There are many ways for students to become involved in the community. They value the environment and discourage discrimination. There is a culinary class, art, and guitar class, but if you are looking to go into higher education it is not the school for you. Many of the seniors and teachers are unaware of the requirements for most colleges. Despite having a very diverse selection of classes, the school lacks many subjects featured in the SATs and ACTs, like trigonometry. If you are passionate about the environment or the arts, this is the school for you.

This school offers many programs for any one interested in saving the Earth. The curriculum is all nature based and they have many programs that take the place of other stereotypical high school. Overall, this school's main focus in bringing global awareness and is the perfect place for anyone interested in planting trees and ridding the world of invasive species.
I transferred from Cienega H.S. to Sky Islands in my junior year. I only went to Sky Islands for a year and a half, but it was by far the most engaging and interesting school experience I've ever had. The staff was amazing and so caring. I've always struggled in math, but managed to bring my grade up from a D to a B in my first two weeks there! The teachers always listen and try to help in any way they can while still challenging the students. The director and vice director do their best to keep a safe atmosphere, free from bullying with a heavy focus on unity. There's also a heavy focus on the environment which I personally enjoyed since it meant getting outside and not staying cooped up inside a classroom all day. The field trips are unique but also relevant to the material the students are learning. Something I was highly impressed with was how devoted the school was to improving both the campus and neighboring community through volunteer work.
