Simnon Kenton offers a WIDE selection of electives and extra-curriculars. If something isn't offered, you can make a proposition and start a club or group yourself. It's easy!

The staff are great. They are knowledgeable about their content areas and are willing to go the extra mile to help students.

For a semi-rural Kentucky school, there is surprisingly, a decent amount of diversity. While having students of varying races and religions is always best, there is a small pocket of the stereotypical redneck contingency that gets on everyone else's nerves. They are harmless, just ignorant, and the school manages them VERY well.

Simon Kenton High School is a fantastic school for athletics, has fairly strong academics, and is an overall proud school. The teachers are for the most part caring and supportive and are actively helping students in college preparation through test prep and aid in the college application process. I enjoy attending the large school—of about 1800 students—and will always have pioneer pride!
As a senior at Simon Kenton, I have seen a lot of things happen in my school. From marches to discrimination, my school is like a whirlwind. The teachers here are amazing and really care about their students, but I can't say the same for the students. Not to say that all the students are bad per say, but there are some students that leave a bad reputation for our school. Recently, a GSA club was formed and posters were put up to advertise the first meeting. I was thrilled to see this happening in my school, but some were not. I saw students tear down the posters, heard snide remarks, and saw the disgust in people's eyes. This close-mindedness, unfortunately, is a problem within the school. I hope I can see this change in the future either before I graduate or after I graduate.
