Sierra High School is by far the best high school in the Manteca Unified School District! This is the school that is known best for their academics. They offer a range of classes to choose from, whether it be regular or AP. The one thing I would like to see changed/improved is the math department. Throughout my four years here, they continued to struggle with having good teachers to teach students the right way, which made it harder overall to really grasp the math material I need to take with me to college.

I enjoyed how much Sierra focused on its academics. School work was always very important and they worked with you on preparing you for life after high school. From freshman to senior year every student worked on their 10 year plan for life after high school. Whether the student decided to go to college, trade school, or straight into the work force, Sierra worked with them and prepared them for their specific plan. Sierra is not a school that tells every student they must go to college either, they understand college isn’t for everyone. Sierra was very good at emphasizing what was best for each individual student.
This school offers its students a substantial amount of resources and allows them to create their own, personal career each year. Many teachers have a wide variety of styles that any student can easily adapt to, which helps them prepare for the unpredictability of their futures. There is also a strong and effective athletics program that is heavily integrated in the school's culture and serves as a source of motivation for many. However no school is without flaw. Due to the sport-dominating culture of the school, other programs such as performing arts and clubs may be neglected from time to time. Students often find themselves having little or no time for extracurricular activities because the sport they participate in can be time consuming and even demanding.
