Shortridge High School is a school of the elite. To carry the Shortridge name throughout one’s life is a privilege that one must honor. The Shortridge community teaches the importance of being involved in the community, making a change and always being kind. Shortridge High School is the only school in Indianapolis that does an annual drag-show in order to raise money for the school’s GSA. Shortridge High School is a safe place for members in the LGBTQ+ community. The staff always respect LGBTQ+ members and are always open minded. Recently, the GSA has been fighting to have a gender neutral bathroom for members of the LGBTQ+ community that don’t feel the female and male bathrooms are for them. With that change beginning to occur, it truly shows how welcoming and accepting the Shortridge community is. Shortridge keeps it’s students well protected so we can all learn in a safe environment.
Going to Shortridge allows you to learn something new every day. My experience with my teachers has always been great. They're always willing to help or connect you with someone or whatever it is that fits your needs. I like the diversity of the school. I enjoy learning about other cultures through other kids my age. The curriculum can be very stressful at times but it has helped me work on my time management and organization. My experience with being a part of a sports team has been great as well. The coaches and teammates are always helpful. Overall Shortridge is a great school if you are determined to make the best of it.
