    Shortridge Academy is a private New England therapeutic boarding school for grades 9-12 emphasizing challenging yet supportive college prep academics on a 350-acre campus with an average of 50 students on campus throughout the year. Operating year-round, we offer rolling admissions with a minimum commitment of one academic semester (two terms) on campus. Many families, however, opt to enroll for an academic year or longer. We are located in southeastern New Hampshire, with close proximity to both the seacoast and the mountains. This idyllic setting provides a tranquil and more “normalized” experience for our students as they develop critical strengths for their futures. Shaped by the defining features of authoritative parenting, Shortridge fosters collaboration within boundaries and offers students “a seat at the table” on individual and community-wide topics. Student inclusion, in part, is what makes Shortridge unique.

      Caring, positive, helpful staff team to help students holistically. Everyone goes above and beyond their "job" to partner with students, and care about helping them achieve their individualized goals. Students are generally kind and capable kids who are on their way to getting back on track. Student committees plan activities, special events, rooming arrangements, etc. so kids have a big say in the running of the school. As they gain trust, students can hold leadership roles, get work study jobs, get help with college applications, resumes, etc. Visits much more frequent than other therapeutic schools. Families included in the process and encouraged to do their own therapeutic work as a family system. Staff are responsive and available to families and students and enjoy being a part of their growth.

      I have known the founder, Adam Raisner, for 30 years. The team and approach with students at Shortridge represents his care for helping kids. Shortridge is a high quality option providing the same academic accreditation as top NE boarding schools and colleges (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), licensed therapists to help students address anxiety, depression, and family issues. with a semester minimum length of stay. As CEO of Paradigm Treatment, we have and will continue to educate our families about this great option once they finish our 30-60 day mental health residential program. - Paul Auchterlonie
      Overall, an excellent experience for our daughter. She's doing well and devouring her college education. Solid academics and compassionate support systems. We highly recommend Shortridge.
