From Sherwood Charter School

Why Sherwood Charter School? It is a celebration of childhood where our scholars love learning and can’t wait to get to school every day. We welcome every child, every day, into an inclusive community where honor, empathy, accountability, respect and team work are woven into every aspect of school. No one is left out and being included is part of our culture. We believe intelligence is a function of experience. Our scholars go on at least 6 learning adventures a year, from rowing down the Willamette in a replica of a Native American war canoe, to hiking on Mt. St. Helens. We believe learning is best when hands-on and creative. When students walk to their classrooms each day, they each have a personal greeting with their teacher who creates an emotionally safe place to learn. Our class size of 25 is small on purpose, so we can personalize each child’s education. Everything we do here, no matter what our job, is devoted to supporting students and their education.
