Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter School Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 3 reviews
My kids enjoy going to school each day! They are learning and having fun doing it. As with each public school, teachers do vary but I find they have lots of experience and enjoy working with the kids. The leadership cares and listens to parents concerns. They have created a beautiful working garden and have community activities like movie night. Overall a solid neighborhood school!
We’ve had a fantastic experience at Sherman Oaks elementary charter. All of the teachers that we’ve had have been well trained, committed, compassionate and motivated to help our child exceed expectations. I’ve also had 100% great interactions with the staff, after school programs and it’s only gotten better with Principal Miller. Parents are also great. The only awful thing is traffic to get there on time.
We hoped this would be a great school -it’s a pretty great neighborhood. We have had a couple of great teachers, but many of the teachers are older and some definitely seem tired of teaching (only 5% of teachers are 1st or 2nd year.) After 3 years I have found several to be impatient and even unkind. 1st and [especially] 2nd grade children facing impatient and often annoyed teachers is a discouraging environment at such a critical time. Academic scores speak for themselves.. not great (and some of the report cards have appeared thrown together or incomplete and not always reflecting the child at all.) The “free” after school supervision program is completely unsafe...bullying, etc.
