From Sheridan School

A joyful and spirited place, Sheridan School is a learning community where we expect our students to achieve great things . . . and they do.

We intentionally develop in students an authentic desire to learn, to frame questions, to seek answers, to lead, to explore, and to create.

Challenge at Sheridan is not limited to the classroom. Our 130-acre Mountain Campus provides students with an opportunity to move outside the comfort of their regular surroundings and experience new levels of challenge in nature—a perspective that plays a vital role in developing confidence and character.

Our oldest tradition? Kindness. The sense of welcoming and warmth you feel upon walking through our doors has been at the heart of our school since its founding in 1927.

My sons attended Sheridan from K-8th grade. Our boys were always happy and joyful Sheridan students, they made lifelong friends at Sheridan and graduated prepared for high school. As we get ready to drop our oldest off for his Freshman year in college, we have reflected a lot about his Sheridan years. And my younger son is a rising senior in high school. At this significant milestone in educating our boys, the nine years at Sheridan has served them both very well. Academically, both boys have handled the stress and challenges of high school with confidence and an understanding that mistakes and challenges are where the true learning happens. We know they are now also prepared for college. We love Sheridan and highly recommend this outstanding school.

Our daughter has been at Sheridan for 5 years. We have been very happy with our experience at Sheridan. Sheridan is very intentional in the way it approaches educating the children who attend the school. We love how the mission and the philosophy of the school sees kids not a vessels to be filled with knowledge but meets them where they are in terms of their own journey. The low student to teacher ratio means that the curriculum and teachers can be very nimble and teach to the children who are in the room. Each child feels challenged at his or her own level. One other thing that sets a Sheridan student apart from others is his/her ability to speak confidently in front of a group - peers and adults. Oh and the kids have THE BEST time at school. It is truly a place full of joy!
Sheridan’s model is how I wished I would have been taught in school. The students are each taught, not to a standardized test but, to where they are. One of the most amazing things is that our daughter and all of her friends want to go to school. They enjoy the learning atmosphere. They enjoy being challenged. And they enjoy their teachers. Sheridan encourages learning and taking chances, not memorizing for the sake of advancement. Our daughter is in the fifth grade and each year her growth has been impressive. We recommend Sheridan…unequivocally.
