I have 3 sons who attend Shelton. My oldest started in third grade and now he’s in seventh. He has severe dyslexia as well as processing issues. We were not sure if he was ever going to read well. He is now reading Harry Potter and we still can’t believe it! I also have dyslexic twins in 4th grade and they both started in 2nd grade. They have been in public school previously and they were having some self-esteem issues, and I felt like they were the only ones who had dyslexia. Since moving to Shelton they are thriving and we have seen an improvement in their reading and math. We have had wonderful teachers and if your child has a homework question they are encouraged to call their teacher for clarification. Also, my kids are learning how to use assistive technology and becoming more comfortable every day with advocating for themselves. The school also has lots of fun in school specials and after school clubs allowing every student an opportunity to shine.

Excellent option for students with learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing, ADD. ADHD. It's large but because of the common thread among our children, it has an intimate feel. The cost is high but for many students, it is a life saver!
Dyslexia and ADHD run strong in my family. When my child was identified with such, then denied services by our local public school, we found such relief when we found Shelton. He walked in the first day of school and never looked back. The school completely understands that every child learns differently. They know what dyslexia and related disorders are, and most importantly, which learning intervention/s work best for each child. The school has a ton of extras (ie: football, basketball, tennis, golf, swim team, art, music, band, drama, robotics, student council, the best drum line ever, plus others).
The school is very understanding of the trauma the child and parents may have gone through before finding the right school, and therefore very nurturing. We have had a wonderful experience at the Shelton School. I can't recommend this school enough!
