Dyslexia and ADHD run strong in my family. When my child was identified with such, then denied services by our local public school, we found such relief when we found Shelton. He walked in the first day of school and never looked back. The school completely understands that every child learns differently. They know what dyslexia and related disorders are, and most importantly, which learning intervention/s work best for each child. The school has a ton of extras (ie: football, basketball, tennis, golf, swim team, art, music, band, drama, robotics, student council, the best drum line ever, plus others).
The school is very understanding of the trauma the child and parents may have gone through before finding the right school, and therefore very nurturing. We have had a wonderful experience at the Shelton School. I can't recommend this school enough!

Shelton School is extraordinary! We entered the school at K (Pre Primary) and are now in 7th grade for 2019/2020. We are "lifers". You will find wonderful teachers, committed parents, and an enriching environment. The class sizes are TINY, think: 10 students and then maybe two teachers. Where else would you find that ratio? And then there is a new campus in 2020 (fall). The trend line is definitely upward and we're thrilled to join the journey.
I spent eight years of by academic career attending this school. I made very memorable moments at Shelton. There are a good amount of clubs at this school and I was involved in most of them. As for academics, there are honors classes for the students that choose to take them, however they do not offer AP classes. The teachers care about the success of their students, which proves to be helpful with students who have either one or multiple learning differences. I took all honors classes in high school and the homework load was never unmanageable. The sports have definitely improved since I started at Shelton, although the rules do not always go well with parents and students. There are a wide variety of personalities that go to the school. Taking the classes I took in high school mades me feel as prepared for college as the next person. All in all this school is worth sending your child to if they suffer in a larger environment or in academics in general!
