Starting my freshman year at Sheldon High School, I have had a great experience so far. The teachers and staff are friendly and helpful and care about their students' success. The student body is very diverse and there are many extracurricular activities to get involved in, including sports teams, clubs, and other organizations. The school also provides a variety of classes and resources to help students excel. I appreciate how Sheldon High School is a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels included. I also appreciate that the school offers many AP classes and opportunities to get ahead in college. One thing I would like to see change is the availability of after-school tutoring and extra help for students who need it. Overall, I have had a great experience at Sheldon High School and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great high school experience.
Sheldon High School is a very great school. I have attended this school from the very beginning (9th grade). There are many college preparatory classes offered and a large portion of students engage in it. Sheldon prepares students for STEM related, Engineering and even VAPA related majors and careers if chosen to do so and most of the teachers are very supportive and caring. This school is very diversive (1 of the most diverse in the state) and has a large population, and also has several clubs to choose from. One of the downsides to this school is that there is a limited number of janitors, and I remember during my sophomore year, 1 or 2 out of the 4 possible bathrooms were locked due to unavailability of janitors. However, it should be understood that this is likely a district problem. Also, due to the large amount of students, there are limited spaces to classes, so if you choose to take an accelerated course, you MUST sign up for it on the day of course registration.
Sheldon is a very well kept school with many activities that students are encouraged to take part in. The school has excellent STEM and art programs that help students go into those career. I felt that the classes that I took prepared me for starting college and the process didn't feel to overwhelming. The majority of teachers are also very understanding of students and are great at adapting to specific student's needs. The school, at least the few years that I have attended, has some safety and security problems. The security staff on campus is excellent, however, there is not enough of them to keep up. This small inconveniences does not outweigh all of the good that the school has to offer though.
