Sheldon High School was a school that took sports first and academic's last. The environment and culture surrounding the school was that of Caucasian rich families. It was rare to find someone who valued my morals.

Though the exterior of the enrolled students were poor, the interior programs and teachers were excellent. I was taking the international High School program (IHS) on top of my generic education requirements. The teachers in the IHS program were excellent in preparing their students for real world situations and choices. It was transparent to students on what they taught about the world around us, besides the small classroom, and gave a greater perspective for my own self growth.

Sheldon is a school with a lot of cliques. I have talked to a few students when they were new to the school and they said it was hard to find friends/make friends. All of the teachers that I have had are very nice and helpful when I have questions. I played soccer for my first two years at Sheldon and teachers did a good job of helping me when I missed class for games. Football is what Sheldon High School is known for around town and it is seen all over the school. Oregon is a very white state itself and Sheldon lives up to that. There is a very small population of people of color at Sheldon but there are many clubs such as Asian Student Union and Black Student Union for people to join and learn about different cultures. However, growing up in the Sheldon Community my family and I have made a lot of friends and met a lot of good people and I am happy for the experiences I have had.
Sheldon high school is an amazing school! The students are well aware, involved, and are compassionate about the community, as well as other students. Teachers and staff are very friendly and are not afraid to create a bond with their students. The schools food is highly underfunded however and due to that the majority of students go off campus for their food. Students are very prepared for college and are often self driven and motivated to explore education on their own. The academics are very good for those who are driven as a lot of the curriculum is student driven and self taught rather than teacher instructed. However this also makes it harder on less driven students and poses an issue for those with extra help. However there are many useful resources provided for that help. The sports here are our culture. Highly competitive but well awarded sports give a sense of pride at sheldon high school.
