I have loved this experience of attending Shawnee mission North. Its diversity and family environment make it one of the most welcoming and unique high schools out there! The only thing I can think of to change would be to create a more united student body, instead of having a bunch of individual groups that people are in, which is important to have too, but a strong united group would provide for more student spirit, participation, and motivation!

The administration and the school district, in general, are terrible at solving problems that arise in the school. Some of the teachers are extremely helpful and put a significant amount of time and effort into helping students that are struggling, while others are the complete opposite. Most of the teachers who teach upperclassmen are more than willing to help make students ready for college and have the resources to do so. From my experience, bullying is not a big issue, however, fights and other violent acts do happen occasionally.
As a student who has been in IB and AP classes, I've had amazing teachers. They really do care about your success and they understand if you're overwhelemed and are there to help you. There is a large portion of the teachers and aministration who make great efforts to make the school a better environment for everyone. I'm in band and choir, and making music has been a life changing expirence for me at Shawnee Mission North. The only reason I rated it average, is because the students can be very mean and cliquey, but teenagers will be teenagers. If you try your hardest, then the teachers will give you the same effort.
