Although high school is not an easy transition from middle school, Shawnee Mission East has been so great to me. The administrators and staff are always there to support their students, and whenever I have had an issue they have always been there to help. Shawnee Mission East has so many opportunities for its students, and the teachers at East really want their students to succeed and are passionate about what they are teaching, which has helped me succeed so much in my high school career! I will miss Shawnee Mission East so much next year and all the wonderful memories I have made there.

I have been at Shawnee Mission East for the past 2 years and have had many eye opening experiences. I have gotten involved in a wide variety of things. All the things I have joined are great. The musical has great people, basketball has great coaches, dance team has great opportunities, and stuco has great leaders, but I have always felt something was missing. The thing I have felt is missing from Shawnee Mission East is school spirt. People get involved in things but never have much drive and passion behind what they are doing which makes it not as fun or meaningful. I have always been the person to find joy in the small things and East students don’t always do that. They are always looking toward the future and don’t take time to see what’s around them. Overall I have loved East and am grateful it’s the high school I attended because of the great opportunities it has given me but I wish those around me had more passion for our school and community.
I really like Shawnee Mission East and I am glad I go to this high school for my secondary education. The teachers are mostly great and really care about their students. Administration is awesome, our principal my freshman thru junior year, is one of the coolest adults I have ever met. We have a new principal this year, and he was the principal at the middle school I attended. If there was one thing that I could change about Shawnee Mission East, it would be diversity. In my four years here, I have seen the diversity increase, but it is still not near enough. I am assuming 2-5% of this school is non-white students, which in my opinion, is pitiful. If there are more students included, then this would be an ideal school to attend.
