Through 500+ sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities to get involved in, I have enriched my life greatly. From music programs like theatre and band to science/engineering courses and clubs, I have become a well-rounded individual with multiple leadership experiences and immense knowledge. The technology and high education standards make Shawnee noncomparable to most high schools across the country. Students have a choice to get involved in higher level courses and be selective about the clubs they join to cater to their schedule. I could not have asked for a better high school experience.
I love how this school prepared me for college! We practiced writing college essays our senior year of high school. The academics are incredible, and it really is one of the best schools in south Jersey. The courses were great, and we had the opportunity to take college level classes and get credit for them at this school before we graduate. The only downside was the arts. I was an art student and took upper-level art classes, and they used all of their funding for the football team instead of the arts. We had broken colored pencils and overused supplies. They even didn't want to take away class time to go to the art show at the end of the year, but they took away class time for a spirit rally for sports teams. Besides the school not putting importance on the arts and all the art programs, it was great in every other aspect. Students are getting an amazing college ready education.
It's been a great experience so far! The course selection is varied and aims to reach students of all interests and abilities. The academic curriculum is as challenging as any student is able to handle and the effort and rigor required seems appropriate for the level of learning. There are MANY sports, activities, and clubs to engage the students and the advisors regularly demonstrated a vested interest in the participants.
