Shaler Area High School has an outstanding performing arts program which is great for students of any background who like to dance, sing, act, or play and instrument. There are also a multitude of higher level classes (honors and AP) as well as an in depth Japanese Language Program which has been featured in several major newspapers. Its great for students who like to be creative and exceed in academics. The students and teachers typically put in a good effort, but the reason for four stars is because teachers/students who slack off do so in a way that tends to bring down the class either through the ability to get through material or by decreasing the difficulty.
While the school is not very safe or friendly there are great teachers and some great activities available. There is a lot of safety concerns like fighting, threats and suicide among students. If you're able to avoid this there are lots of activities to become involved with. With sports for example they continue to increase the options like the new women's flag football team which is new to Shaler as of the 2022 school year.
Though lacking in diversity, this school offers plenty of classes and clubs to fit your interests. You can find the most kind and helpful teachers here, and some of the most talented students. Overall, I’ve found some of the best opportunities and friends through this school.
