My experience at Shades Valley High School is an awesome one! I've met a lot of friends and the teachers are really concerned about my education. They really encourage me to be a great student! I am happy that Shades Valley High School accepted me into the engineering academy.

I would change the way the color guard coach treats her color guard team. She was not very encouraging and she really didn't care about the girls being respectful to one another.

Overall, I would rate Shades Valley High School as a good school to attend for academic success!

It started as a fair school, especially with all the academies offered. However, the school continues to fall as clubs are cut in favor for others, and academies are cut and discarded (even if they have full student support) in favor for others. It used to offer a health, law enforcement, fire department, and law academies, all which were all cut out of them blue. Every resource is now focused on ROTC, diminishing everything else.
As a senior at SVHS, I must say that it is one of the most underrated schools in the area. It has everything to offer for an enriching high school experience, and competitive college prep. The staff is very helpful, professional, and qualified in their respective jobs. We have all sorts of clubs, honor societies, participation opportunities, and community service programs. Student safety, wellness, and discipline is highly obliged. It is mostly a black majority school, but has a good population of Hispanic students, about 10% of white students, as well as international students. You can have a very fulfilling experience at SVHS. It also organizes interaction with highly accredited colleges such as Harvard, offers helpful ACT prep programs, Global Scholars, and what not.
