Was a very good 4 years at this school, but I did have some troubles with teachers and other students. Other teachers in almost all departments were very helpful and understanding when it came to homework, sports, work, etc. Serena's students can be unfriendly in some parts but most of the student body is friendly and accepting.
I went to Serena High School last year. I started my freshman year and graduated there. I am very grateful for the people I met and the experiences I had, however the education you get there is pathetic. My year long, chemistry class was completely and only Bill Nye videos and other useless YouTube videos. When I took a chemistry class in college, I was extremely behind and struggled to even pass (I am an honors student.) In the last couple years, the school hired new staff members and it has been nothing, but scandals. The administration is always starting something new such as, affairs and police coming to the school to escort the out, and this is taking away from the students. They used to have a huge amount of clubs, but they got shut down because the teachers aren’t will to do a single thing they aren’t paid for. The sports are the minimum and the school is not at all open to having more. Overall, Serena has and continues to go down hill.
Being from such a small community makes you feel at home all of the time. Everybody takes care of everybody, making the community stronger as a whole. I love being a Husker, because of these things but also because I know my teachers care about where I’m going in life. They want to see their students succeed, in some of their spare time they work on helping students progress in their futures. To be a Husker means to be a family.
