The IB program is the only advanced curriculum that legitimately prepares students for college. And as the only public school on the Penninsula to offer it, Sequoia High School is unrivaled on diverse academic preparedness and creates the best possible students. Additionally, Sequoia students understand and perpetuate respect garnering them as some of the most well rounded and balanced students in California. Overall Sequoia high school demands the best of their students so that no matter the students background, when they leave after their time at sequoia, they have become a better version of themselves.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at Sequoia is very strong and challenging and, in my opinion, is better than AP. Many IB teachers are very good and dedicated, and the program brings a sense of coherence to the overall curriculum. However, the IB Diploma (the most advanced coursework, which accounts for at least 10% of the junior and senior classes) restricts the class schedule and prevents you from taking the electives you want and exploring classes in high school.

Sequoia is very diverse, at least 50% Hispanic, I think, but there's a good amount of segregation going on. Not complete segregation, but certainly far from 'integration'.

The current administration does a lot, I feel, to improve the school and cares about their students and teachers. They like to get to know students, and I believe that they really want the school to be successful.
Sequoia High School has a very safe, healthy atmosphere for all students. The teachers do an excellent job at helping students to think critically, and always willing to do more to help their students succeed. The rigorous IB program definitely prepares students for collegiate academics. Some areas in need of improvement is the school culture, the clubs, and activities. If there were more students involved in clubs in activities, there may be a more close-knit community which would boost the school culture.
