One of my favorite parts about Sequoia High School were the teachers and the amazing support system they brought to the table. Everyone has a tough time in high school, so to have a teacher who is able to understand and work along side you in order to do better is an amazing experience. I never felt like I wasn't able to pass a class or at least do the best that I could. Besides the staff, I loved the community that is Sequoia students. Even though you may not know everyone, you still find a way to rally together in times of trouble. I remember the walk outs that we had in order to protest against gun-violence. I remember the way we cheered for everyone who participated in rally's or sporting events. I mostly remember the positive encouragement from classmates whenever a subject wasn't understood. Most of all I remember that no matter what Sequoia High School is a place of friends and that is what I loved the most because it was always embodied by every person at that school.

I have attended Sequoia all my 4 years of high school. Through the course of Covid-19 it shows how much the teachers actually care about their jobs and students. Through almost all of my years, there has always been a teacher with subtle bias and causing some sort of problem in the class. However, the actual academics are great, Sequoia has a good IB program. I wish over all there was more ways for students to interact with their teachers, I got to do this through AVID. However, I know students who are not in any type of extra program are struggling very hard.
Sequoia teachers care about their students improving both their skills in academics and the real world. They strive to provide a well-rounded education and incorporate relevant topics. The school, located in Silicon Valley, has strong liberal-leaning tendencies and creates a climate of acceptance no matter one's ethnicity or sexuality. If you are interested in the arts they have a strong dance, music and theater programs that many students get involved with. What also makes Sequoia unique is that it has the IB (International Bachelorette) program which puts more emphasis on deeper thinking than the AP program and also makes students who choose to participate eligible for applying to international universities.
