Seaside High School is a great school for me personally. I’ve learned tons of things that I find beneficial and fun. I also really love how much Seaside High tries to get everyone to step outside their comfort zone. I’ve made loads of new friends over the courses I take and I’ve met some wonderful teachers who have shown nothing but how much they care for our education. I’m proud to be a spartan at Seaside High!
At seaside high school I feel unheard, unwelcome, and very uninvolved as a freshman. The safety at my school is terrible there are constant fights and drug abuse. The college readiness is handled very poor in my opinion, the center is more biased on the upper class men like seniors and juniors rather than them being focused on the school as an entirely. As a freshman I don’t feel like I have as many resources to get ahead early unlike the seniors and juniors. The clubs at my school can be quite fun but are managed poorly, they don’t receive any funding and are often lead by teachers who don’t have an interest in the activity. My club was personally got affected by this situation, the teacher did not filling out a form by the due date even with constant reminder, this nearly causing a trip to be completely canceled, if it weren’t for an amazing parent. However, this was a lucky scenario on our part, most parents are not greatly involved with the school.
I like that Seaside High School is very diverse. You see students from all different types of backgrounds/ethnicities. Also, there are so many resources to succeed in academics and support programs that prepare students for college. Personally, I have really benefited from Gear Up and ETS because the staff is so helpful and they have guided me throughout high school providing me with informational workshops and field trips to college campuses. Something I would like to see change is more support for the athletic departments because not all sports have the same support. Overall, Seaside High is greatly filled with great administration and staff.
