Although I love most of my teachers dearly (and have even gone out of my way to take other classes of theirs whether I am good at the subject or not), SHS is definitely not perfect. The teachers, cafeteria workers, and custodians go above and beyond to make students feel included. However, the culture among the students is not good. Students feel pressured both by each other and by administration at the school, district, and state levels to outperform one another in order to succeed. I constantly hear other students complain about the stress of having to keep up with so many clubs and classes they don’t necessarily want to take just to get graduation cords, recommendation letters, and a good college application. Other than the poor school culture and amount of stress, I highly recommend this high school. Teachers and staff are fantastic, students have so much access to technology and other resources, and there are plenty of unique clubs/classes outside of your core classes to join.

I always felt included and welcomed at SHS. Being in the theater program really opened up a lot of possibilities for me, and even helped me make several good friends both inside and outside of the program.

The teachers do everything they can to help the students feel at ease and to help them understand the lesson at hand. I never felt ashamed to ask questions.

Go lions!
I have enjoyed my time at Searcy High School. There are a lot of memories that I will carry with me after I graduate. Being an athlete, I have spent a lot of time building relationships with other athletes...a bond that can't be broken. I have also been privileged to build relationships with my coaches that taught me more than the rules of football, wrestling and baseball; they taught me some rules of life. I have also been able to learn a lot and depend on my teachers to educate me and prepare me for post-graduation opportunities. Thank you, SHS!
