Alum: Going through Shaker Heights High School, I've had a great experience during those four years. I've made friends that I believe I will remain in touch with even though we're going into different paths in our lives. I've been very privileged to obtain the education I received, especially the AP classes and the IB Diploma Programme I entered and received my IB Diploma through. I was involved in many sports and clubs that I was able to manage my time with and that allowed me to meet different people with different cultures, backgrounds, and lifestyles, so I'm forever grateful for that. Although SHHS has its problems like any high school has, it provides extraordinary opportunities that are unrivaled by any other.

Alum: The faculty here obviously care about their students, many becoming parental/mentor figures in my life even past graduation. In the aspects of education, safety, clubs and counseling, WHS truly excels. The Arts, both fine and performing are all amazing departments with high quality directors and instructors! The Westlake High School Broadcasting System provides great local news coverage, as well as a club that provides video film editing training.

Jackson High School

Senior: I enjoyed attending this school! I am a part of the arts program within Jackson High School, and it has made me much closer with my peers. I also feel this arts program has helped me gain so much confidence. I feel as though my academic abilities have been challenged and I have been pushed, and I am grateful for that. Though I do not participate in sports, the sports teams are very good and well funded. However, what my school has in sports, arts, and academics, it lacks in diversity. The majority of the student body at Jackson High School is white. Also, the majority of the students are also wealthy. I am in the minority of students, as my family does not have much money. Overall, I have enjoyed attending Jackson High School, but it definitely does have its flaws.

Hoover High School

Freshman: I like a lot of things at Hoover High School. There is good culture at my high school. Everyone gets along with students and friends. I feel like if someone was lonely students would help that girl or boy. Teachers are super nice and try to help people as much as possible. I would say this for about 75% of the teachers/staff. Some teachers don’t seem as fit as they could be to be teaching students for the future. That is why I took off one star. The school itself, there is so many resources and opportunities to expand our knowledge. There is also so many things you can get involved in. There is some diversity in the school but I think it would be a 75% to 25% (25% being minorities). The food is super good here, I used to pack my lunch everyday but now I eat at school for lunch and for breakfast. The lunch lady’s are super nice and friendly. They always ask how you are and it feels comforting. The one thing I like most about Hoover High is the resources and how involved everyone is.

Chippewa High School
#48 Best Public High Schools in Cleveland Area
- Chippewa Local School District, OH
- 72 reviews
Alum: Chippewa educated for my four years of High School. The teachers and the majority of the courses were very enriching and created a high-quality learning environment. Chippewa High accomplishes the small school feel very well. But it severely lacked in terms of clubs and school pride. The school made active attempts to limit the pride we could show for our school. Going as far as not allowing pep rally's before big sports games. The learning was excellent, but there isn't much else they offer.

Alum: I loved all my teachers. I was an IB student, and I will remember every one of them for the rest of my life! I felt like I mattered in the school, and it was easy to make connections with others and staff. There was a perfect balance between student leadership and teacher leadership, so I felt like I could both guide and be led. Also, the teachers are the best. You could not find any better, especially for bio/psychology/history/math and english in 11th and 12th! I love them all a lot.

Berea-Midpark High School

Senior: Berea-Midpark is a very large high school with a wide diversity of students. In 2020-2021, a new high school will replace the old one. Several teachers have challenged and inspired me along the way. One thing I would like to see change is bullying within the school. It would be great if administration could put together an anti-bullying club that consist of student role models because I believe that’s where it starts. Everyone admires them and if they were encouraged to get on board, I believe it would make a big difference. They can have monthly activities and pair them up with someone that has different interests. I would also like to change the nepotism within the school.

Alum: I loved LCA. I graduated in 2014, and miss those days so much! I had a wonderful experience, loved all my teachers/classes, and had a great group of friends. The classes were challenging, but in a good way. They make you put your mind to it, and they inspire you daily. Some of my best memories are of that school. The kids are nice, we didn't really have any "clique" or bullying problems. The school is located right next to Lakewood Park, so sometimes we were able to have our PE classes on the baseball diamonds or in the grassy areas. I couldn't imagine going anywhere but LCA for my grade school years. They have an assortment of athletic teams, and coaches who really care about the students they're teaching. It was truly an amazing experience.
