New Explorations into Science,Technology & Math School
#43 Best Public High Schools in New York
- New York City Geographic District No. 1, NY
Freshman: I have given NEST+M a 4/5 stars because it excelles in benefitting the students lifestyle. Most of the teachers are great at teaching, creating hands on activities and group activities that would most likely benefit us later on. But at the same time, they are leient enough to extend a deadline if it’s absolutely needed for the student’s life outside of their busy school life. Additionally, we have college week where the teachers would explain to us about certain colleges (and universities). And there is also a college office. However, there aren’t many clubs, NEST+M is still developing in clubs. A few examples, Key club, tech crew, debate, and student government. Correlating, the PA helps out a lot, especially in setting up school events. The hold bake sales and breakfast for the adults and teachers on some mornings. Overall, NEST+M is a gifted and talented k-12 school, with different students coming from all five boroughs, bringing in their diverse cultures and unique colors.

The Anderson School
#169 Best Public Elementary Schools in New York
- New York City Geographic District No. 3, NY
Middle School Student: The Anderson school is a small school with both academic challenge and a wonderful sense of community. The admissions process, which is highly selective and challenging, does not reflect the academics of the school, which are taught to every student the same way, regardless of their level. The teachers are excellent, and students learn a lot; it is overall an amazing school.

Emma Willard School
- Private School
- Troy, NY
Senior: Emma Willard has a rigorous academic program that gave me plenty of opportunities to develop as a student and a person. There are plenty of resources on campus for academic help, whether it be through student tutors or the teachers themselves, who are often available during study hall. The students I learn alongside are some of the most intelligent, and have pushed me to become the best I am today.
The student body's awareness of social justice issues is also remarkable. In response, Emma has held events and discussions revolving around these issues, resulting in profound and rewarding conversations that I am grateful for.
I will say the lack of diversity in faculty is somewhat disappointing, considering the wide range of diversity among students. Additionally, the dining options have become redundant, having been a boarder for a few years here.
Overall, Emma Willard provides students with many fantastic opportunities—so long as you're willing to take advantage of them.

Parent: One of three citywide gifted schools. Most diverse and has the top notch math, English, and science teachers. If you can get in, it’s a great opportunity and your kid will be well prepared. My child got into all the private high schools and specialized Hs he applied to.
