Underwood High School
52 Best Public High Schools in Iowa
- Underwood Community School District, IA
Senior: I would say Underwood High School is better than your average school. As a smaller school, the teachers have a better ability to have one-on-one experience with their students. This allows for an overall higher quality of education for students in my opinion. This is something that larger schools just can’t do with such a high number of students. Something I dislike about Underwood High School, though, is their lack of quality of food. If the school can afford to build brand-new facilities for their students (which they did), then they can afford to serve their students something that is actually good for them instead of frozen pizza and nachos.

Noble and Greenough School
- Private School
- Dedham, MA
Alum: Nobles is a special place rich with tradition, oozing with school pride, and steadfast in strong community principles. I feel so fortunate to have spent my high school life in such a place where I was accepted, encouraged and challenged all in perfect harmony. The teachers are happy to be there too--they are also encouraged to challenge themselves and develop as educators and that is clear in the way they immerse themselves in their curriculum and their afternoon program duties. I love nobles more than words can share--could not recommend it more!

Tri-Center High School
132 Best Public High Schools in Iowa
- Tri-Center Community School District, IA
Alum: Tri-Center High School was a very great experience for me. Although many of my peers found the classes that were available to be either too easy or not preparing them to be successful in college, they are some of the best achievers at their institutions of higher learning. It is for this reason that I do believe the classes and administration at Tri-Center have and will continue to prepare its students for a successful college experience. Another great attribute of Tri-Center is the class sizes and how it is a smaller school that is able to devote more attention to all of its students to help them succeed.

AHST High School
- Avoca-Hancock-Shelby-Tennant (AHST) Community School District, IA
Alum: My high school experience at AHST High School was spectacular. The teachers were overall great, but there were a few who could brush up on teaching styles. It always felt like they were there to actually help, though, which I loved. Beyond academics, students had a number of options to get involved. I took full advantage and became active in a variety of activities from sports to student government to speech. The people and the school itself made for an amazing high school experience for me.
