Pocahontas Area Middle School / High School
63 Best Public High Schools in Iowa
- Pocahontas Area Community School District, IA
Senior: While Pocahontas is very advanced in regards to technology, it struggles in terms of student respect and equality. Some teachers leave as soon as possible, one of which is nearly hostile towards students at times. Sports, while lacking in recent years, have been very good in the past. The arts are not well respected, and Pocahontas Area does not have a musical.
Pocahontas Area does, however, have one of the best mock trial programs in the entire state, having the second most number of state championships in the state (falling just behind Robins/Xavier). This program is a small home, and makes students feel very welcome.

Newell-Fonda High School
72 Best Public High Schools in Iowa
- Newell-Fonda Community School District, IA
Senior: Newell-Fonda High School as been a great experience. I have been encouraged by faculty members to be more involved in activities and join groups of special interest such as National Honor Society, FCCLA, FFA, and was also a football manager for 3 years. With involvement with these groups it also gave me a chance to be more involved with my community by doing service projects and volunteering. Newell-Fonda High School has helped me to grow as a person and realize not only I am part of a high school community but a larger picture of OUR community.

- Norfolk, VA
Parent: Norfolk Academy provided an extraordinary educational journey for my two children, fueling their curiosity and inspiring them to explore new avenues that they might not have discovered without the incredible teachers and coaches at this school. My oldest child, who came in sixth grade, now studies engineering at an Ivy League university; he particularly loved the robotics team, as well as soccer, swimming, and crew teams. My youngest child, who is a senior at NA, came in first grade, and she has developed a passion for medicine and health, largely through the school's Global Health Fellows program and the Medical Scholars program.
