Gilmer High School

Senior: Our academics and teachers are the best part of Gilmer ISD. We all feel loved and equal. Our teachers work with us, but also teach us much more than school work. They teach us responsibility, respect, and self worth. Gilmer High has issued a bond this year for a new school for the children after my class. Our building is 70 years old.. A better learning environment and a new refreshed building with better equipment and technology would've made my high school experience better.. I am glad the students after me and my class, could possibly have a new and improved building for the sake of the kids and learning. Overall, the staff, the kids, the sports, and all the opportunities at Gilmer High are incredible.

Alum: I loved my time at St. Stephen's. The teachers are exceptional and the lack of AP classes means that they don't just teach to the exams but what is most interesting to them -- which usually translates into much more interesting class time! I felt like I was more prepared than most of my college peers (at an elite school nonetheless!) -- my writing was better, I was better at time-management. The only thing I would change is that at the time the student body was not especially active in clubs/non-sport activities, however I think this is slowly changing.

Union Grove High School
626 Best Public High Schools in Texas
- Union Grove Independent School District, TX
Niche User: Union Grove High School is one of the best schools in East Texas. Every part of the school is wonderful. The students, teachers, and staff there are all like a big family. It is one of the smallest schools in the area, but that is a part of why the school is so great. You get a chance to get to know everyone, and you may not know everything about everyone but you do know everyone's names. All the teachers care about their students and love to help them understand their work. The staff help you the best they can at all times. Overall I would say it is the best school in East Texas.
