Alum: Booker T. Washington High School is an academically challenging and prideful school. When I first came in as a freshman I was overwhelmed by the amount of clubs and overall potential to be involved at the school regardless of demographics. Booker T. also has a fantastic marching band with insurmountable passion and character that draws students to the pep rallies and football games that they have to offer. This ultimately leads to a strong student body and involved parent volunteers. Additionally, in junior and senior years, Booker T. offers a vast multitude of IB (International Baccalaureate) classes that challenge students much to the same extent or perhaps even further than a college course. I took these classes junior and senior year and they were no meager feat. However, I left Booker T. Senior: I have been going to Jenks Public School since I was in Pre-K and Jenks was there through my toughest times. Jenks High School has taught me many things to excel in life, from courses like Economics, Forensics, and AVID to the positive "Jenks spirit"! Jenks is also very active in the community including Jenks-owned food banks and programs to give children the opportunity to learn and read with free books which really helped during the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, Jenks High School is more than just a campus, it's a part of our high school experience. Now does that mean my school is perfect? far from it, Jenks needs to work better on intergrading international students and recognizing diversity. As a child of immigrant parents, I have seen my African friends have to accommodate the American School system. This meant they would get held back in a core subject or information about school programs just wouldn't be provided to them. But, with my Trojan experience, I wouldn't change a thing.... Parent: We love Jenks WE. All the staff is so friendly and helpful. All the teachers seem to love what they do. Parent / teacher communication is great. Parent involvement is very encourage. I feel even though I’m just mom, that I have a hands on experience in my daughters learning. Very efficient car line. No matter where I end up in line, once the line begins to move, I’m through the line within 10 min. The academics are great. Middle School Student: Hello my name is Emily Pierce and I am in eighth grade and I attend bixby middle school. A few things I love about Bixby middle school is that it offers honors and AP classes. Unlike my old school which was a lot smaller than Bixby it didn’t offer honors classes so the classes were a little bit too easy for me and I wasn’t really challenging my myself the way I had hoped. Bixby is one of the largest schools in Oklahoma and I’m very proud to be apart of the district. All of the teachers I have had during my time at Bixby have been so helpful and understanding. They have helped me learn more things in the past 3 years then I ever did at my old school. I’m not trying to say my old school didn’t teach me things, but Bixby has accelerated way past the teaching standard in my opinion. I could never imagine leaving Bixby public schools because I have made amazing friends not only with my classmates but with the teachers. Sorry I’m cutting it short I hope to hear from you soon!... Middle School Student: Out of all school, I recommend you going to Jenks because you might regret not going there. Being a new student means that you are new to everything. You`ll get a school tour, so on your first day, you wouldn`t get lost. Teachers like to treat you like you're there own children. Would protect you from any danger. Always there when you need someone to talk to. WEB - leader which is a program helping 7th grader and new kids. It`s the greatest thing ever because they help me with everything. Alum: The best part of Owasso High School was the effort that the teachers, staff, and administration put into the wellbeing of their students. This includes mental health, interests of the students, and education. Each of these areas had a thoughtful plan and execution that made the experience pleasant. For example, teachers and administrators helped lead clubs or organizations that involved the students interests such as board game club, theater, and sports teams. It was evident that the teachers cared and made a thoughtful plan, then attempted to pursue that plan in hopes that the students would enjoy themselves and achieve a higher level of excellence. On the other hand, the school was large which made it difficult for the teachers to actively help one student extensively; however, the teachers offered tutoring periods and were always willing to meet the student at lunch to explain the subject they were having difficulty in. Alum: This was a great high school to attend, the culture of the school was always amazing and everyone was actively involved in sports, arts, and academics and supported each other. I had some very notable teachers who changed my life, and overall had a positive experience. I would love to see some more diversity in the school, and personal relationships with the administration.
