Alum: A big thing that I liked about Coral Academy of Science was that it was a smaller school overall. So the classroom size was much smaller, allowing the teachers to be more engaged with the students and teach them better. I enjoyed playing on the sports teams all four years of high school. The school makes every students education important and doesn't seem to "forget" about a student or disregard them. They want us all to succeed. On the flip side, I would like a larger campus, the halls get crowded at times. Funding would also be nice to improve the campus facilities and equipment. Other: My overall experience at Reno High School was phenomenal. The teachers were hands down the best part of it all. Every single one had such a unique personality with a love for their passion that it made everything intriguing. Not to mention, the teachers loved building connections with the students to both help the students in their classes and to help achieve the student's end goals. The aura of the entire school was extremely welcoming as well. It felt quite safe and everyone was open to talking to each other. The activities and clubs were just as exciting too. The variety of them ranges from the most typical ones to some I never would have even thought of. All the members of basically every club were also very open-minded towards anyone. Senior: This high school is very inviting. Since the school only has about 400 students, the students and staff are all very connected. Almost all students attend events put on by the school including sporting events and school dances making our school pride through the roof. The strong connection between all of our students is the main reason why I love North Tahoe High. All of our teachers and staff are also very committed to making the learning environment as fun and exciting as possible. Different clubs and sports are what bring faculty and students close together. They are also very experienced and help all students excel. Teachers that teach advanced placement classes are also very informative when helping us prep for the test. Works Here: I started working at Coral Academy at the beginning of this school year (2020-2021) after moving from Houston, Texas. I taught in Houston for 21 years prior to my Reno move. I have been very impressed with the rigor of the curriculum at CAS Middle School. The administration and staff have been very helpful in my transition to a new school. With the pandemic going on, the school has been very adamant about safety and sanitizing protocols around the building. I have felt very safe even with everything going on. The students are great. Alum: The teachers there were amazing! They always had lots of character which made the schooling environment feel that much more enriching and fun to participate in. Even the bad teachers made you come home with a laugh. Most every teacher would give you an A so long as it was clear you tried and you understood the material. Niche User: Great school with well seasoned, friendly and good teachers. Parents are very strong in supporting school financially. Alum: My experience at McQueen could be described as nothing less than exciting. The energy that came from the stands during a game, or the endless support coming from multiple teachers, and the positive learning environment that allowed me to thrive and eventually go on to pursue a college education set me up for a positive future. A variety of of clubs and sports were offered to me throughout my four years of high school and allowed many students and I an opportunity to find a sense of belonging. You are constantly surrounded by a multitude of cultures which exposes students to new and exciting perspectives. Although, as a first-gen student who finds that school comes easily, I did struggle with knowing how to prepare for college. My one criticism of the McQueen would be a lack of college readiness and a small resource centre to go to to find scholarships.
