Senior: Being a part of the first graduating class of this school has been such a wonderful experience! I was even lucky enough to witness the state of the art institution being built from the ground up. With college level laboratories and a maker space that has tons of equipment, going to this school has been a great experience! While the school has an undeniably rigorous course load, this has made me feel extremely prepared for any college I may pursue in the future. Clubs and organizations are also a huge part of school life with every club being student run. If you have the opportunity to attend this school, you will find an amazing campus culture that feels like a second home. Senior: After switching from my old elementary school to this school, I found it to be a drastic change. There are different buildings for each category of students (elementary, middle, high) and they're not all that big, however, the intelligence and diversity of this school make up for it! I've made friends of many different cultures and I've never met so many people who are of the same culture as me. I take college classes in addition to my high school classes, and I'm even graduating a year early to get a headstart on college. This school is primarily A student, and 90% of the teachers actually care about their students and prioritize their education. I love my teachers, I could never ask for better ones. Senior: I love the First Academy, I began coming to TFA last year. I was instantly accepted and so loved. My College advisors pay so much attention to college pathways and mental health. Administration is very strict on dress code, but they have the best intentions. There are so many opportunity's for everyone here whether that is Coding, fine arts, childcare, sports, or service. The extensive amounts of clubs, committees, and student involvement is just insane. I would not want to choose another high school to graduate from. Senior: During my high school experience I learned various things about my school. Being apart of student government and twelve clubs throughout my years gave me a glimpse into how professional my school is. For example, for my science national honors club had multiple doctors and professors in the medical career take their time to come talk to my peers. Alum: Historic layout, familial ties, incredible spirit for all the sports and 100% inclusion for all people. That’s the best way to describe the feel of the school. So many programs available it’s impossible to take part in each one. I chose guitar and learned to read music and play at a high level. My cousin chose engineering and a my sister culinary arts. I’d say we have the bases covered! My mom graduated 29 years ago from my school and had her name and a brief quote carved into fresh concrete. She passed away last year so everyday I get to walk by her “square” and see her name in her handwriting. Winter Park High School loves to stay connected to its past and it alumni and you can tell just by listening to the passion about the school in my family’s and friend’s voices. It’s easy to get nostalgic even now. I haven’t left yet for college but ache for lunchtime outside under the trees with my cousin, sister and friends. Senior: Overall I had a very positive experience at Hagerty High school. I always had access to the most advanced courses offered at my grade level and was able to complete 15 Ap courses while here. Each class I took I was taught by a teacher were genuinely wanted their students to learn from the material and leaves the class better than they entered. Also, I always felt that the school was very organized and structured in a way that allowed for the students to achieve their best. I also participated in several sports and had great experiences with the coaches and teammates. I felt that they were highly demanding while never taking away from my performance in the classroom. The only negative thing I can say about Hagerty is the lack of diversity and outside exposure. As a result of its location, it is populated mostly by white students and the upper middle class. Other: I have been to Boone High School multiple times for Debate Tournaments, Student Council D3's and tennis tournaments. While it is certainly an older school and could definitely use repairs in many areas, when it comes to extracurriculars, Boone delivers! They have an amazing debate team as well as an incredibly hard-working Student Council. Every debate tournament is always well organized, and every D3 is always a well-planned mix of fun and education. On the grounds of what I would like to see changed, I recommend repairs to the school as well as increased security. Junior: Going to Professional & Technical High School (PATHS) was one of the best choices I have ever made. From Freshman Year, it was clear the school cared for my pupils and I, already preparing us for college and our careers. We work on a 4x4 Block schedule, meaning each class is 1:30, 4 classes a semester. This was done so students such as myself could dual enroll in both the Osceola Technical College (a trade school within the same campus) and Valencia College (a community college within the area). This gives students a chance to graduate with a High School Diploma, Industry Certifications, a Technical Degree, and an Associates degree. Moving on, all of the classes I have taken were interesting and challenging, even if they didn't particularly excite me. Furthermore, my counselors have been of great assistance in preparing me for my career. Finally, the environment is peaceful and lovely. Junior: My experience at this school has been pleasant for the most part. The school is academics driven and does a good job at preparing students for standardized testing as well as college level education. I enjoy how easily accessible information regarding dual enrollment and testing is. Administration is also very helpful in meeting with students regarding whatever inquiries they may have. However, when it comes to creative mediums and the arts, there are not many opportunities for students to explore these areas. Other than a few music classes, a drama class, and an art class (all of which are only available to certain grade levels), the school does not do much to promote or expand the arts department. There are also not many classes that allow high school students to explore different career fields, making it difficult to know which path to pursue after graduation. Senior: Olympia overall has been an outstanding high school experience, from the students and teachers, to the different events and celebrations. Having the first year of your high school experience be completely altered with an pandemic was not something any of us had in mind, but Olympia pushed through and Freshman year will be something to remember - for better or worse. In my experience, the teachers at Olympia are hit or miss - you could go from a very passionate, inspiring, life-changing teacher in one period, to a teacher who the students all believe should never have been a teacher. The same goes for all the different school events; the sports games were another world of enjoyment, and so were some of the different art performances, but there were a few events that could have had more effort put into them. Alum: I transfered to The Master's Academy in the beginning of my junior year along with my sisters (freshman & senior). It was daunting coming into the new school due to high expectations and standards as well the intense vigor of many of the classes. However, I was lucky and had a few key teachers who gave me guidance and encouraged me to improve and adapt to the school. However, my sisters weren't as lucky and had a few teachers that were unorganized and at times rude. I shared this experience in my senior year with an advisor of a society on campus. The leadership needs to grow and become consistent in their discipline of students and classroom standards. Despite its flaws, Master's helped me grow and gave me many opportunities and experiences I would not gotten elsewhere. Parent: We have been at Orlando Gifted Academy for four years and we absolutely LOVE it. We feel like our kid found his people at OGA. The teachers are the best in the county and constantly challenging our kid to strive for his best. There is a strong focus on science, math and tech but other subjects are well represented. It's an older campus, and since it's an Orange County Public Magnet, no transportation is provided. Being in an older building means less opportunities for sports and arts, but the administration does amazing things with the space they have. My gifted student went from a good school where he was mostly bored, to a community of his peers where he is challenged to do his best. Senior: Lake Nona High School is a pretty good school! There are a lot of fun moments, such as: music concerts, school plays and musicals, spirit week, senior events, and more! I've had an overall positive experience at this school, and I'm glad to be here with my friends. Now, I know that no school is perfect, so here are my complaints. A lot of the teachers here are good, but there are some in which they are not the nicest teachers, either personality-wise or with their actual teaching. Clubs are fun to be in, but sometimes it feels like the clubs have no real purpose and they start to feel a little bland sometimes. But, despite all of this, I am still glad to be at this school.
