Sophomore: The Early College at Guilford has a great community and great teachers. Although the trailers aren't the best, the environment overall is great. The school has an atmosphere towards academics. The first two years, especially Sophmore year, are the hardest because of AP classes, although you can get a lot of credit. Senior: I have attended this school for 3 years now and it has been an amazing and unique experience. The office staff is extremely nice and helpful and the teachers are exceptional with their courses. The teachers have taught both honors & AP classes very well and I passed every class and exam. The opportunities were also endless in terms of clubs and service-learning. The environment is welcoming for new students and there is diversity everywhere. Since it was a small school, I was able to develop a relationship with every student in my class. Within a few days of my first year, it felt like family. By junior and senior year, I attended college classes at the university which helped with college readiness. Now, I can transfer credits and save lots of money in college! The only drawback was that our school did not offer arts or sports which is something that I would like to see differently. Senior: Early college is like no other traditional high school or magnet school it’s in its own category Early college is the best decision I could’ve made. Going into early college all the upperclassman were always nice and always wanted to help you navigate around the school. The classrooms are small and the teachers are all so amazing they know how to teach and they also care about you a lot. Senior: The school afforded me all I needed to be prepared for my next chapter which is college. From the diversity of students, activities on campus and the involvement and concerns from the teachers and administration. I felt that I could go to them and they were literally wanted me to achieve. Also the location of the school was also a great factor because I didn’t have to travel far to get there. It only took me 10 minutes to get there because the school was located in my neighborhood. This was so convenient because I didn’t have to be stressed 😩 by being caught up in daily traffic which makes a difference to be prepared to learn when you’re in school most of the day. I also was a cheerleader which I loved. The team was diverse and we felt like a team! I can look back on my high school at Atkins as a positive experience that met my overall needs as I enter my next chapter to attend college. Parent: I have had 2 children attending Arts Based School. I love everything about the curriculum and faculty. My children enjoy the environment and exposure to the arts. There are sacrifices, however. No school cafeteria. No school buses. And not the most diverse population. However, what the school lacks in diversity it makes up for in open mindedness. Senior: One thing I love about the Yadkin Early College is that we are given the opportunity to get ahead in our education. I love the fact that we can take both high school and college classes at the same time. Another thing I love about the Yadkin Early College is that all students are treated like adults and are given a lot more freedom as opposed to a regular High School. I also love that everyone at the Yadkin Early College knows each other; We are like one big family there. Everybody gets along with everyone. One thing that I would like to see changed at the Yadkin Early College is some teacher's grading policies. Some teachers at the school are very harsh when it comes to grading. Other than that I think the Yadkin early college is a fantastic School that gives everyone an amazing opportunity. It gives everyone the chance who goes there to gain either and associates and arts or an associates in science degree or both. I would recommend this school to any rising freshmen.... Parent: From the first day we toured the campus we loved that students walked from building to building. It felt like it was a college campus, and time spent outside was a health bonus for students! WFHS makes a great community with more than 30 clubs, societies, sports teams. It was joyful to discover that students can find almost anything. WFHS is creative in many ways, there are always new banners and announcements, decorations for upcoming events and seasonal decor for the school appearances. WFHS is strong in supporting local communities by participating in cleaning events in parks and neighboring areas, pitching in in donations, and volunteering. We feel special pride about the school’s ethics. Teachers work as a team and navigate delicate and challenging social situations, showing most sincere kindness and care, teaching students how to not compromise humanity in lieu of mundane fun and giving direction to those who have lost it. Senior: I can proudly say that I had the best four years at ABSS Early College. My high school teachers were very understanding and at times I would forget they were my teachers and that I was simply just talking to a friend. Everyone who goes here has the objective of wanting to learn which is also nice. It is not like a regular high school but the staff at ABSS Early College make it their goal to give you the closest experience as possible to one. Middle School Student: So far I liked my experience in the HAG team at Hanes. The teachers and students are friendly and the academics are excellent. I will say, it is diverse, but I do find there is more Asians and White Americans than other races, especially in HAG (I'm Asian btw). But other than that I think its a great school. Junior: At Rockingham County Early College High School, the faculty and staff are there to prepare you for college. It is an excellent academic school that is ideal for students who are productive when on their own. Students begin to take college courses with Rockingham Community College their freshman year. Students graduate from RECHS in four or five years with their high school diploma and their Associates degree in Science, Arts, or Fine Arts. There are no sports teams, instead students play sports at their “home school” within Rockingham County. There is much room for improvement with clubs and activities found in “typical public schools” but the school community is rich in student led clubs and groups. As a junior, I am very happy with my decision to transfer to RECHS from my home school to focus on academics.
