Senior: Although small, the St. Mark's community is great as there are a myriad of ways to connect with others. One example is how the Seniors get little buddies (1st through 3rd graders) that they interact with throughout the year, and at the all School Christmas party, bring their little buddy in on their shoulders and let them put an ornament on the Christmas Tree. This is only one of the many ways that St. Mark's brings everyone in the community together. Junior: The school of science and engineering is a really prestigious school that offers great classes to students. It can sometimes be hard to balance all the work were given because of the challenging classes we take. However the teachers makes the experience a little less dreadful. They strive to make students the best that they can. But what I especially like about my teachers is that they are very strict. The are strict to where they want us to learn and to have a future; that is what I adore about them. Something I would like to see a change is the school spirit. Parent: My daughter has attended EA Young since she was 5 years old while my son joined EA Young when he was 9 years old. The greatest part of EA Young is the Administration and the Teachers because they listen to students and parents' feedback, and they genuinely care about their students. I credit my kids' love for learning and sense of curiosity to the unique culture at EA Young. EA Young is also very accommodating towards learning. My 11-year-old son's strong subject is Math, and he was allowed to join the math class that is one year ahead of his grade. My 10-year-old daughter is also 1 year ahead in all subjects. EA Young is a close-knit community, my kids have developed great friendships with many. Families participate actively in school activities and often get together outside of school as well. Junior: Coppell High School is an excellent school! Although I only attended it for a year (during my junior year), it was one of the most fun experiences of my high school years. Not only does CHS have one of the best sports teams, the trainers, coaches, teachers, and parents are all very supportive. Academically speaking, Coppell is excellent. Teachers are always available for tutoring in the morning prior to classes or after school. Any time I faced difficulties in class, my teachers were always willing to explain the concepts again. Teachers went above and beyond to help students. For example, prior to a summative assessment, one of my teachers would be sure to hold a review session during tutoring hours. This sentiment of making students feel comfortable to ask for help when they need it made my entire academic experience great! Sophomore: I rated my experience at Liberty High School as 4/5 stars because, for the most part, I would say that I have enjoyed my time in school for the past two years. The school environment has always been extremely inclusive to all people, and that has definitely made me feel safe and welcomed. The best part of my experience at Liberty High School would be the closeness that I discovered with my friends and teachers. However, the worst part is that the girls' bathroom is not always the cleanest or safest place due to a small group of students who use the area as a place to vape and do drugs. Alum: I was able to have unforgettable experiences at this school. The majority of my experiences leaned towards the fine arts programs at Flower Mound High School, and that is perhaps where this school shines brightest. All the fine arts programs at this school have incredible staff and support from the students' parents. My activities were particularly with the band program, which has become one of the premier programs of the entire state and country among public schools, not just its peers in the D/FW Metroplex. But this level of excellence is evident throughout the rest of the school's activities as well, including athletics. Flower Mound High School is one of the most prolific high schools in UIL Athletic competition. Senior: My experience at Reedy has been a mix of good and decent. It is good because of some of the teachers and because of the classes that you can attend. However, there is still much room for improvement. Reedy has issues with giving high school kids freedom/respect. Because of specific kids vandalizing bathrooms, all students get punished and aren't allowed to move about the school. You can also tell that some of the teachers aren't treated properly because so many have quit within the past 2 years. Junior: I really like Booker T., and I think it's a great school to go to! One thing about it is that before my time here, I heard a lot of people telling me things like "We're all one big happy family", and maybe people say that about every school, but it is not the experience I'm having. Senior: Overall, my school has prepared me for college fairly well, and it is a good school. The biggest issue I have with my school is the diversity issue, as I am a black student and it is a predominantly white school, filled with primarily like-minded people. This is one of the things I would like to see change, as I would prefer other people of color who attend this school to not have to deal with the racist remarks or actions, that happen semi-frequently. One of the best parts about my school is the fun events throughout the year, which are things this school does very well and to a larger scale than I imagine other schools would. Senior: My experience at Centennial High school was really fulfilling. It has good diversity, a wide range of classes, good career classes, and good career programs. One of my most memorable experiences at Centennial is ISM, which stands for Independent Study and Mentorship program. ISM is a research program where I got to research the topic of use of biomedical engineering in cancer; I got to meet professionals in this field and interview them on their work in the field. After I am done with the interviews I can choose a mentor that can help me with my final product that will reflect my understanding of this field. I wish there was more emphasis on career focused classes since many kids at my school only cared about having a high GPA, so kids did not have the incentive to take those classes as they did not weigh as much as AP classes. Senior: Frisco High School is the oldest high school in Frisco ISD. Currently, there are 12 high schools in the district and all of the other schools have cool new buildings with study spaces and newer equipment. The district is working on making Frisco High School more up-to-date, but during my time there, much of the building has been a disappointment. However, we are proud that we are the oldest and original high school in the district. We are #1! Our students are very proud to be THE high school for a district of 12 high schools. We work hard and we play hard. If anything has to change in this school, it would be the building itself. There just needs to be some renovation done.
