Senior: Westlake High School provided everything I wanted from my high school experience. Classes were challenging to a certain degree which helped push my intellectual curiosity, though still manageable with other extracurriculars. Speaking of extracurriculars, opportunities were abundant. For clubs, I was heavily invested in my school's Young Investors Society (a financial literacy club), leading it as President in my last two years. I have also been President of the Physics and Robotics Club for the last two years. I am a four year Chamber Orchestra musician, playing the viola at college-level performances. My best experience was being a part of the basketball program for four years, and playing two years on Varsity. Here I met some of my best friends while satisfying my competitive drive. However, in my eyes, school unity should be promoted more. Much of the school seems separated, especially at large events. Nothing is really done to help students meet new people.... Senior: Foothill Tech is an academically advanced school. It contains many school committed kids while also holding a diverse campus of students. The school itself is small as well as the population, but that helps create a friendly and family-like environment. Alum: I hear mix reviews about NPHS, but I absolutely adored this school. I moved right before my ninth grade year and I had no friends going into high school. I quickly made friends through the amazing Girls' Basketball team. The teachers are overall really good and seem to care about their students. The theatre program is also astonishing! I felt that the programs I did and the people I was around were super supportive. Everyone pushed me to do better, but to take care of myself. Middle School Student: I really like Medea Creek Middle School because all the teachers and students are very welcoming. I feel better at this school because the food is actually the best you can get for a public middle school. They also have the best academics in our county (Ventura County.) I highly recommend it for any 5 graders going to 6th grade, or middle school. I moved from being the best student in my class in Simi Valley (Wood Ranch Elementary) when I was going into the first grade and turned into being a very low skill level when I went to Brookside, which I also highly recommend. After 5th grade, I went to Medea Creek Middle School and found that the academics were very hard or challenging which helped me to where I am now. Please take this information as a welcoming, advising school and a friendly community of students. Sophomore: Thousand Oaks High School is a place that can't be described easily. There are numerous student activities: Center, ETHOS, AP Classes, Cubs, and numerous sports programs are all a part of this community. If you are looking for spirit, this is the place to go, the best spirit in Ventura county with the presence of the Green Hole, cheering on all the athletes. More than dedicated are these athletes, with the grit to fight for wins. Up and coming football program just going 10-0. Overall, a great school to find your place, with a lot of options to go to. Alum: As someone who went through the entire K-8 system offered, the school is great for preparing children for the future. Everything is wonderful from the academics, diversity (for what a majority white area would be able to offer) and the teachers leave a tremendous impact on the kids. Parent: We love WLE! The teachers we’ve had so far are attentive and care about the progress of each student, not the “always strive for straight As and winning contests.” The teachers care about taking the shy, non-verbal student to confidently sharing in front of their peers. My daughter did STEM, ample art and motor skills projects, music, and PE in TK. Kinder saw music, STEM, art, and more. I volunteer weekly, and I see the growth the kids are making. Parent: My daughter attended this school, and she loved it. Now she studies in another school because we relocated to the neighbor town; however, she misses Sequoia Middle School. It is a great friendly atmosphere there. The daughter told me a lot of good things about many teachers in this school. Sophomore: It was very focused on education, arts, and sports; my experience there was wonderful. The Band program is amazing and same with the choir program. The best area of education at this school is definetly, math, history, science, and English, the teachers are very committed and willing to help on all levels, and to massive extents. In sixth grade when a friend of my was not prepared for a said quiz, the teacher said she could do it at a later date with no problem whatsoever. Junior: As a current student at Moorpark High School, I am able to personally experience everything offered. The arts program is incredible and directed by inspiring instructors. Junior: OPIS is an amazing school. The courses are challenging, interactive and focus on real-world issues. The teachers are very kind and compassionate. They offer to help students not only with schoolwork, but also with issues they may be facing at home. Students are held to a high educational and behavioral standard at OPIS.
