Senior: I thought going to Aurora was overall a really good experience. I never realized how advanced my school is academically until I talked with kids from out of school and new teachers who transferred shared their experiences with me. Taking AP and honors classes in my school is normal and almost everyone takes at least one. I learned that's not the case in other schools and AP classes or very rare and don't include many students. Knowing this and being able to not only take the class but had the resources to succeed made my experience so much better. Socially, my school encouraged group work and fun interactions between students and teachers. I made so many new friends in my classes as well as made connections and relationships with my teachers. One of my favorite activities is the teacher vs students basketball game which is fun to participate in as well as watch from the stands. Senior: The students are, for the most part, good people. The teachers work hard and care deeply about their students, and building administrators are passionate and approachable. Unfortunately, the district administration is dysfunctional and the community continually refuses to fund the schools. Levy after levy has failed, leaving Crestwood in a dire financial situation. The Academy program, an interdisciplinary experiential class, is the crown jewel of the High School, and recently built an aquaponics greenhouse! AP classes offer students opportunities to push themselves, but options are limited and often result in schedule conflicts since most courses only run during one period. Freshman: I moved to Southeast High School just last year, and I have had more accomplishments in my ONE year here than I did with 8 years at my old school. My old district only had sports opportunities, which sucked for kids that were not that athletic, but this one has academic ones as well. I truly love it here. Middle School Student: A lot of Catholic schools operate through strict indoctrination and closed-mindedness; at IWA I was taught from a moralistic standpoint that formed a core of strong values that continue to serve as my basis for critical thinking and philosophical thinking. I had a great experience here in many ways and get frequent notification of the school's continued improvement. I was challenged to a point that prepared me so well that I was never thrown by another academic experience, all the way through my graduate studies.
