However, despite the struggles, I must admit that this school provides a well-rounded education that prepares us for the future. Senior: Having begun American Heritage as a junior in high school, it was nerve-wracking to enter a rigorous academic curriculum. Parent: Berkeley is a great school. Lots of amazing teachers who really care about their students academic growth and well being. Children are challenged with an exciting, broad curriculum that prepares them well for high school. Middle schoolers get to try as many sports as they want. High school students are offered a good number of courses with levels giving everyone a chance to be challenged and succeed . There is a myriad of Extracurricular activities and the school is generally open to students interests, so if they are interested in a club that does not exist they will likely be able to form one. The investment in and quality of high school sports varies depending on sport, so there is room for improvement there. The arts program is very good. Senior: I've attended Pine View School from 2nd grade through 12th grade. This place is great and offers many advanced classes for those who are consistently performing above their grade level. Once a student reaches high school, they have so much freedom in what classes they take and what path they want to go down with their academics. This school teaches kids to be independent and work hard. On the other hand, unfortunately, being gifted comes with its fair share of consequences as well. The levels of depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses here is much higher than at other schools. Consistently pushing oneself to ace rigorous courses takes a toll on one's mental health. Pine View has good resources and understanding staff when it comes to this, but all I want to say is that it is NOT FOR EVERYONE. Just because you or your child are gifted does not mean you should attend. Be prepared to have your limits tested... I hope you have a good work ethic! Personally, I owe PV everything.... Senior: I have attended Gulliver for years and they run an amazing educational system. All the students create great, professional relationships with their teachers and it really helps the learning process. Their Theatre department is outstanding. Everyone has amazing opportunities to broaden their acting and musical ranges. They have amazing sports teams and the student body has great school spirit. Alum: I had an incredible experience at MCDS throughout middle and high school. MCDS offers a wide variety of activities (extracurriculars, sports, community service, etc.) that give every student the opportunity to find their niche and shine. Senior: I'm a "lifer" at Shorecrest, having been here since Alpha. My experience with the school is perhaps different from students now since there have been many changes both faculty/administration-wise as well as with the newest buildings on campus. Shorecrest introduced me to reading at a very young age. I'm very grateful for that. The quality of education that I have and am receiving is top notch. Middle school prepared me very well for upper school, and now, as a graduating senior, I feel quite confident in my academic abilities. Teachers are just fantastic. The theater and athletics programs are excellent. Senior: Good Academics and teachers. Fun school to be in even when academic wise it gets tough. Most teachers are friendly and ready to help. Dreyfoos encourages involvement of student group interaction therefore there is unity at least between kids inside specific departments. Outside of those departments sometimes kids feel the need have "rivalries" or almost pick on certain majors but if you love your art and make good friends despite the major they are, you can get around it. Admin encourages students to be proud of their school and to take advantage of the opportunities offered. There is a variety of activities during the school year to go to and enjoy like spirit week and open houses for parents.
