There are a lot of great school options in Little Rock, but PA has consistently ranked at the top of nearly every list. We have made a lot of sacrifices to put our kids through PA, but we have absolutely no regret with choosing the best school available for our family. Our kids have been exposed to many cultures and beliefs that have broadened their world view, but they have also found good Christian community, which is very important to our family. Middle school student: First off, I want to say that Little Rock Christian Academy is an amazing school. It starts with the preschool and ends after senior year. I love LRCA because there is such a connection that is made between students and so many new friendships once you join. You learn so much at this school and are definitely prepared for college when finished. Everyone cares for each other and is there for one another—teachers included—and I, for one, feel very welcomed and loved when I walk through those entry doors. So if LRCA isn’t the school for you, then you’re certainly missing out on a great opportunity for an awesome school. Senior: I have attended Conway schools my whole life. I also have three younger siblings in Conway school district. The best part about Conway school is the small town vibe. Everyone knows everyone in our town. The teachers thrive to help students because they really care about our future. The worst part about Conway school is the reading scores. My youngest sister is dyslexic and my parents had to fight to get her the help she needs. Conway needs more reading interventionist in our district especially in the elementary schools. Senior: I would say the best thing about Central has to be the diversity in the student population at school. Everyone is accepting and willing to learn/support all of their peers because we’ve grown up around them and shared our experiences. The teachers also prioritize our education and will go out of their way to give us many opportunities and resources to learn outside of class. Our art department is incredibly advanced, with teachers who create their own art and really care and cater to their students. The math and science department is also incredibly advanced, with some teachers having PhDs in the subjects. Our school is currently renovating to include an entirely separate science building in order to create a space for STEM students to flourish. The only downsides to the school however would be the behavior of some students and fighting. The administration is very strict and does not like to accommodate to certain children’s needs even with parent involvement. I would like to see a change in the transportation, as it is difficult for certain children to get to and from school. As well as the dress code as they are limiting children’s individuality. Senior: I am a senior in high school who has been going to Lisa Academy since I was in elementary school. I've seen this school change in so many ways, mostly for the better! There isn't much extracurricular wise, if that bothers you then you probably wouldn't like it here. However, the college prep is insane. I feel much more prepared than my non-Lisa peers. Senior: At Bryant High School, and throughout the entire Bryant Public School district, there is nothing but the utmost professional people you will cross in your life. Known mainly as a sports school, the academic support is one thing that catches my eye as an underrated value. While having several opportunities throughout the day for tutoring, this school is scattered with approachable teachers everywhere. Our counselors are best of the best, are are available to support you with any aspect of life you may need help with. All of my teachers I’ve ever had have been very professional, but at the same time shown the ability to transform their teaching styles during tutoring in order for each and every kid to understand the curriculum. Sophomore: Maumelle charter is a wonderful school. I’ve gone there since kindergarten and it’s always been a good place for me to be at. The students there are so kind and helpful along with teachers. My teachers will stay after school helping any student in need of help with a subject. The Falcon Spirit is just always present when you first walk into the doors by seeing teachers and students smiling and having a great time. But along with every school there’s going to be not so good things. The only bad things that have been happing recently are fights and threats. But Ive seen my school grow a lot more in the last couple of weeks. My friends and I always help others and each other whether we are down because of grades or maybe things are happening at home. Either way we always know how to make someone forget about those moments and we always cheer each other up by bringing in great memories or imagining the future in school and out of school. Senior: My time at eStem has been the safest school experience I’ve ever had, as well as with the best teachers. As transgender student, I never felt myself alienated by the staff, and despite the transphobia among some of my peers, I found support within many of my classmates as well. However, the administration, although well-meaning, is frankly suffocating. It is often very difficult not to feel as though, as a student, you’re just a test score or a career plan and the school only really cares about you as long as one of those aspects can be used as a trophy. Our honors and AP classes at the high school are taught by some of the best teachers in the district that truly care about their students in school but even more so as people outside of the classroom. The teachers were good about informing students on material that was being taught, but the school overall was not good about informing students about college. There was very minimal help with scholarships and getting prepared for college at all though. Safety for the school was not the best either, it seemed like either every week or every other week there was a fight breaking out somewhere on campus. Senior: I love my school. It is a community school and everyone comes out to support the local supports and events. There are several elementary feeder schools that feed into one middle school, junior high, and high school. At the school there are several organizations and activities to be involved with both during and after school. The teachers and staff know the students by name, will work with students that need extra support, and are our biggest cheerleaders. We have several new buildings on our campus which make us as students feel appreciated. The worst part is probably the older building that is left on campus and the normal student high school drama. As far as the teachers, academics, and classes offered it is great. We have even started academies for students who want to really learn about a field like medical, engineering, and teaching before going to a trade school or college. It is a great opportunity....
